    10 inch tablet recommendations?

I got an ipad 4, 16g as a gift. Before I got it I thought there was no use for such a thing. I have a dedicated e reader and don't use it for that at all.

Since them I've become used to using it literally every day, surfing, banking, shopping for ammo components, email. Etc.

Now the battery lasts one day max. I know there are places that replace the battery, but that's 1/4 the cost of a new one. It could also use a screen, so it doesn't seem to make sense to fix this one.

So I'd like something like an iPad, I like the size and display. I know there are alternatives, I'd like at least 32g memory, 2 movies is max with 16.

Costco has a 10.5 brand name tablet on sale this month, I see apple products are pretty pricey.

My phones a droid, and my home computer is a windows machine, and they all play together fine.

    Ideas and or recommendations?

I don't know how you feel about Android, but I like the Samsung Galaxy Note tablets.

I picked up an Acer Iconia for my wife last Christmas. It'a a pretty sweet device. Can run it as a tablet or pop it into a keyboard for a laptop experience.

Runs great as a laptop or tablet. Took it on a recent cruise and watched movies on it as well as browsed the internet when at the airport. Battery life is well over 10 hours.

Asus. I have had 2 models & they stay up on tablet tech & have numerous options... but I'm an Android guy as I root all my devices so I can mod the hell out of them.

If you like your iPad the iPad mini is practically the same device just smaller.
Pricey, yes, but they do work very well.
When did you get your iPad 4? The battery shouldn't be going yet. I have an iPad 1 that my kids beat the hell out of whose battery is still close to 100%. If your iPad 4 is still under warranty Apple will replace the battery for free.

My daughter turned 3 last week. I got her a 128GB mini. She loves it. She had an iPad 1 but it was just too big for her. She kept asking for a mini. I went with the 128GB one so I wouldn't have to worry about it filling up with movies and games. My 5 year old son has a 32GB mini and it's already full. He has to delete something now every time he wants something new.

We have had such great luck with the Aaple tablets in the past I'm sticking with them even though they cost more. BTW, I believe my daughter's new mini was just shy of $900.

Also I'm typing this right now on my full size iPad 3. I've been meaning to pick up a new Air but haven't had time. Probably going to go with 64Gb or 128GB.

I just realized you wanted a 10". I was thinking the mini was 10". So ignore my last post, I'd go with a new Air

It really boils down to what you want to do with it.

I bougt an Asus t100 transformer last month that has a detachable keyboard, can operate like a laptop with a standard desktop and complete Microsoft office, or it can work like a tablet as it's all touch screen has apps and all that stuff. It's a great cross over to me which is why I finally dove it. Also I can connect my external drives to it with no need to an external power source and watch movies or transfer data etc. it cost me 400 bucks and it is almost as good as the surface pro 2 at 1k and much better then the samsung attempt at a windows tablet that is 700 bucks. 8+ hour battery life as well. Check out the reviews on it. It beats everything in class besides the surface pro 2 and over double the cost.

If you wanna go Android, you can't go wrong with either a Samsung Galaxy Tab or a Google Nexus.

Whatever you decide on, make sure that it doesn't require proprietary software that runs like 5-6 services on your rig (iTunes installer does this, and should be omitted from said-list).

Personally I have zero use for a Tablet. I stopped using my notebook a few years ago and gave it to my son, as my Android phone with a physical-keyboard (and directional arrow keys) does it all. I have tethering included in my cell-plan, but I have zero use for it either.

                      Nexus 10.

I actually know nothing about the Nexus 10 other than it exists - but my Nexus 7 is friggin awesome... and for the price you could sell your ipad a buy a a 7 & a 10. I actually think that a 10" is too big, but then again the only thing that I have to compare it to is a HP touchpad (yeah I got one of those - but hey, it was on sale)

I had one of the first android tablets and hated it. I have a couple of iPads and really like them. My daughter got a Samsung galaxy tab 3 10.1 inch about 6 months ago. I set it up for her. That thing is amazing. The tab 4 is about to be released so tab 3's are getting cheap. I think any brand with at least android 4.2 will work out nicely for you.

After messing with the tab 3 my next tablet is going to be a Samsung. The galaxy note 2014 has some amazing specs. I think the iPhone is going to be replaced by a samsung too.

Its a rooted galaxy s4. Not much better available. I dislike the small screen on my phone for movies and even surfing.

Asus T100 transformer. It's being sold on Amazon right now for $350.

It comes with office, 64 gig SSD, 2 gigs memory, a usable keyboard cover and it is a full windows 8.1 machine, which means you get all the ease of use of Win8's metro tablet style UI for apps and simple stuff AND you can run full win 8 software programs like Office as well.

I bought one recently to take between home and work and I am very VERY happy with it. It runs everything you throw at it snappy. Nothing is slow. Apps open up and start running immediately, office does too, for that matter. You can browse, email, watch netflix, or do whatever else you would want to do on a tablet with ease. It doubles as a mini laptop with real win 8.1 support as well.

I highly recommend it if you are looking for a tablet type device, but you do not want to be limited by iOS or even android. IMO, it provides the best of both worlds between tablet ease of use and Win 8 computing.

Chromecast for movies, I don't surf more than I type, and the keyboard on tablets drives me nuts, but I typically use correct-case and punctuation (unlike most iPhone users..). Maybe I am too productive on devices, while not surfing for cat-videos and the like.

I don't know why anyone watches movies on a tablet, or phone. For me that is killing the whole point of movies, unless I am stuck at the airport or something w/out a computer/TV.
