Use the chromecast at work in the conference room for presentations (its on a completely separate network).

At home we have a roku.

I was a pretty early adopter, but I will never buy another Roku, mainly due to bad updates they dropped, and they charge for warranty over 30 (or was it 90) days on the phone (the rest of the year warranty is covered via e-mail support only, and that would be SUPER helpful when the MFR actually drops bad auto-updates). Some of their updates disabled my the wired NIC, and some disabled the wireless, it was terrible, and this was only like 3 years ago so it wasn't their 1st Roku they put on the market.

It stopped keeping up on a FiOS pipe with a wired 100MBPS link, and all other devices were/are flawless on that same cable. (The Wireless N link was REALLY SLOW too.) I had the Roku XDS
Model 2100, it kept rebuffering to SD, on everything. Never again will I get a Roku.

That sucks about the poor performance. Bought the original Roku for my parents when the digital transition happened. They live out in the desert, to far to to receive any digital TV signals. They're still using it today.

At my house I have the XDS and haven't experienced any of the issues you've mentioned. I think it's a good little box, but I might go for the Amazon FireTV next.
