    help .... monitor/driver issues .. Win7

so i had my second monitor take a crap a few months ago and i finally got around to ripping it open and replace the caps on the power board and solved my monitor's blinking blue button and now powers on fine...

so i think "GREAT!" i can now hook my second monitor back up, so i thought ... it does its normal searching for drivers ect but is installing "generic non-PnP" drivers so it thinks its a CRT and only flashes for maybe 10 secs of desktop#2 before it looks like no signal (power button is blue and not going into hibernate) tried all resolutions, refresh rate ect still only a few seconds of desktop then black again

cant find any stand alone drivers from a reliable source, gateway just links to some 3 party software that is not free so not going that route for a old monitor ...... grrrrrr i am at a loss as this monitor worked fine on this puter for over a year and now nothing .....

    a lil system specs ...

    Win7 64
radeon 4850 vid card(old but does what i need)
main monitor acer 22" on DVI works fine
second monitor 19" gateway fpd1975w VGA cable on monitor to DVI2VGA adaptor, driver issue

any ideas on a driver or how to force a driver install would be great

Check your work. Perhaps you bumped something replacing your caps. Or maybe a solder joint is not as good as you think.
Good for you for being able to solder. As a kid I taught myself how to do that. I held the wires, held the iron, and then touched the solder on the iron and watched it spit and melt to a drop, then I put it on the wires and presto! Soldered!

To this day, I can not solder worth ****...

ya going to have to rip into it again but dont think its got anything to do with the repair as all the caps i replaced where on the power board and never touched the logic board , but i might have not got one of the lil cables back together right .....lol
