itunes replacement program

is there a itunes type program that make all my songs the same volume level and even clean up my old cassette or cd rips to the computer??

I'm growing tired of having to adjust the volume way up when listening on my ipod for songs that i transferred a long time ago from cds or even cassettes... i'm cheap and dont want to spend the money to re-buy the songs from itunes.

does anyone here have any real world experience using a program to solve this problem??

Itunes has a "sound check" option that will even out the volume of music. It isnt fancy but it is built in.

Look into Itunes match. I think it costs $20 and it will scan all your music and match what it can with new high quality versions of your songs. once matched, you can "delete" your existing music from the drive and then download the replacement high quality version.

Many decent programs have features like this, but usually it is when you put them onto an AUDIO CD. I think it was called sound normalization or something like that. It might be hard to deceide what level is normal though with a song one at a time, but MAYBE jet audio could help you out. I know it has utilities and what not with it, but if you are out of things to check, look for jet audio and see if it has the features you need. Else, you MIGHT give KM player a shot too, I know it does video, but it can do audio as well.

Any MP3 editor that allows volume increase editing should work.

Does iTunes store/rip in industry-standard MP3 format?
