    Best method to clean keyboard

    Windex and cloth?

Ive only been using it for 3 years without cleaning it, seems like the grime just popped up over night!

    What cleans the best?

I wouldn't use alcohol as that may damage or remove any coating, color, or affect the plastic on your keyboard. It can sometimes also damage or remove the letters on each key (if the keyboard has its letters stickered onto the key).

Take your keyboard outside, turn it upside down and blow it out with a can of air or blower tool (look at Metro Datavac Electric Duster). Then buy some wipes like these: http://www.amazon.com/Max-Profession...=keyboard+wipe. You can also find similar wipes at your local retailers like Fry's Electronics, Best Buy, etc.

You can also buy some stuff called Cyber Clean. Just take your time and repeat if necessary.

This works well for me. Sometimes I'll use a post-it note's sticky side too.

Or you can be like me and after dumping a cup of coffee on it. Run cursing over to the sink and dowsing it with the water sprayer, cursing and praying it will be okay, then for extra measure I leave it upside down on a towel over night. Plug it in the next noght and your GTG. This does not work on laptops....ask me how I know.

It does work on laptops, as long as you remove the KB first

Ya like the OEM dell keyboards... I often buy 10 packs on ebay for $100 for work... pretty much disposable at the price, and its a pretty decent keyboard.

True, if your keyboard only costs 10 dollars...not such a great solution when your keyboard costs $100+

                          Damp cloth does the trick.

Still havent cleaned yet. I just make sure to wash my hands after use.

I think tomorrow I will unplug it and use the compressor to blow out the air and crack it open for the heck of it. If Im too lazy to crack it open, Ill blow it out and use the wipey/wet rag method.

Its this keyboard. I got from a friend for free. I like it because it sits at the perfect angle. Most of the buttons are useless.

I spilled a big glass of orange juice into my keyboard last week.
I took it outside and thoroughly hosed it out then used the air hose to blow all the water out.

Plugged it back in and it works fine and is ever so clean now.
That's the 2nd time this year I've had to do that.

It's standard practice for me to use the compressor to blow all the crumbs and cat hair out of it every couple of months.
