Tv gurus get in here I need help!

No problem. I just finished installing a 60 inch in a 12 x 10 room for a customer who insisted their VTC have a 60 inch display. It is complete overkill but looks cool.

Yeah thanks lo! l I have seen a tv fall off a wall at google wile doing a service call. Hilarious they had 20+ Sheetrock screws in the mount and not one in a stud LMAO!!! He was lucky the floor was not occupied yet...

Skip plasma, it's not the best tech. Ideally get an LCD with laser backlight.

I love my Vizio (and its plasma). My daugther can watch TV and i can play xbox 360 or watch dvd on split screen.

3 of my 4 are Vizios. Great bang for the buck.

Would 55" work and would 65" be over kill? Compromise and just get a 60"? i do like to game with my ps3 and the kids wii when I let them.

i have a 55" in my living room and i think it's tiny, but that's because i have a 106" screen in the other room. for me, i like 3D. i don't have to have it, but things that use it well really make a difference IMO. the problem is, it's hard to find films that make good use of it. a lot of films are post converted and all broadcast 3D channels are a joke and shouldn't even be allowed on air. it's the lack of quality content that gives people such a hate for 3D. it is worth noting that size makes a difference in 3D. my friend thought his 60" 3D plasma was the bee's knees until he came over and saw the same footage on my setup. both depth and pop gain noticeable improvements as the size increases. as far as smart tv's go, i think those are a waste. if you have a pc (you do), ps3, x360, even a basic bluray player, you'll have the same, if not more, options as a smart tv. if you, or anyone else on this forum for that matter, don't know about monoprice yet, i feel bad for you! they're my go to shop for most home theater related objects. i got my tv mount there, as well as all my hdmi cables, speaker wire, as well as several other goodies. i've converted many co-workers and i'll do the same here if need be!

The size of the tv depends on the room.

You can make your own mount out of unistrut if you want to save some dollars.

I would make sure to get a tv with at least 120hz refresh rate, which becomes more important as the screen size gets bigger. This is especially true when watching sports.

I bought a mount off of amazon. Made by panther. Well put together. I don't have any experience with any other mounts.

Check with bigboxsuperstore, they have a lot of good deals on TV's. Then call around and see if someone will price match. I just bought a 65" Samsung 8000 and Sears price matched them for it! Could believe it, the TV showed up the next day as well!

As for the specs on a TV, I will say this. I did a lot of research and found that I could see the difference in the picture of various TV's. I spent probably the last 6 months looking at different TV's with different settings and various inputs to judge. If picture quality is important to you, then go look aroung and start shopping, you will quickly see the difference.

Monoprice.com for wall mount. I got my mount that is the arm type from them for $65 I believe.
