    Costco computers any good?

I need a basic computer to replace my POS one that keeps eating power supplies. Its about 8 years old and time to move on. Looking for a pc under 900.00 bucks with monitor/keyboard. I wont go to Frys... so looking at Costco.

Which of any of the desktops of good value? I do mostly web surfing, youtube, and basic photo editing. Im pretty tech illiterate...so I dont know what manufacturers to avoid, or what specs I need.

Plenty good for your usage description. HP resource availability via their site is very good too.

Costco has a great return policy as well.

    $549

Dell ones are usually pretty good, HP isn't bad either. You may want to invest in a UPS if you're finding that the power supply of your computer keeps breaking. There's a chance that there's some electrical issue wit the outlet the computer is connected to. Having a certified electrician check out the outlet isn't a bad idea either, as electrical issues can be extremely dangerous.

thx guys guess ill pop into Costco tonight and have a look. Btw I think its my motherboard voltage that is defective/and or heat issue from a computer friend who had a brief description of my POS. Ill be taking it to the range and blasting it with multiple calibers soon, not gonna fix it. Maybe take video of that.

Costco adds a year to the manufacturer's warranty at no cost.

too many things can go wrong with an 8 year old consumer PC to make it worth salvaging.

Since you're currently using a computer of that age and not stating that you have a need for more power/graphics/space.... any computer at costco near your 900 price point (with monitor and keyboard) will more then exceed your expectations.

PRetty cool...should fit my needs. Windows 8 is different...well gotta get used to all this new stuff...want to get a wireless speaker setup now. Setup was a breeze...so easy

As someone said, Costco adds a year to the warranty, and then you can buy with your Costco-branded AMEX and you get a third year warranty for free. I've used both services, and will always buy through Costco because of the great service. Having said that, they're just commodity PCs and laptops and nothing different than what you can get elsewhere. Power supplies, hard drives, onboard video, motherboards, etc., die. Have a second/backup computer so if you have to deal with a warranty and are out 1-2 weeks you'd still functional. Have a good backup system that works with no hassle so you'll use it. Every time I've had a system die, it was no problem as I just popped my external USB drive into another system and could access all my data.

Like anywhere else, they have good sales, and they have rip-off prices. I'm in the $400-500 dollar range for a system as I know it's not going to last me more than 2 years before it is handed down to the kids. This works out perfectly fine for the laptops they carry. I picked up two Dell Inspiron 15R Intel Core i3 laptops last August for $400/each.

Best to buy online for Costco as you'll have more selection. Don't be boxed in by what they have on hand, and don't be rushed.

Well I don't recommend buying HP or Dell, since I see them everyday and I know how crappy they can be.

IF your looking for good deals let me know because Im and internet junkie and I know when there's good sales on computers.

I picked up one of the Dell Inspiron all in ones about six months back. Haven't had any issues with it so far and the wife loves it.

I just replaced the damn motherboard of a system with a pentium 4, 1TB drive, 4GB of DDR2 and a decent optical drive.

They bought it from costco about 7+ years ago and have been very happy with it, well, they are ignorant, but they have been happy. I of course ALWAYS build my own because haters gonna hate and tweakers gotta tweak...

Point is, it came from Costco, lasted at least 7 years, nothing has had to be replaced until last week.

SO, longevity and speed have been decent.

Give me a bit longer and I will draw you a picture. OH wait, I need longer than that cause my HD is not itself lately...
