Have you considered putting DD-WRT firmware on your current router? It gives you a lot more options including the ability to boost the power of the signal. I put DD-WRT on my 3-year-old Linksys E1200 and cranked up the signal power. I went from a range of about 40 feet to almost 100, and I can still crank it up even more.

Also, I've had great luck with Tomato.
And gigabit ethernet isn't important for internet connectivity (unless you have fiber), it's important for data speeds on your LAN. Try moving a large file from one machine to another and you'll see a huge advantage to gigabit as opposed to 100 megabit.Bill of Rights or GTFO.Comment
