    Corsair H60 worth it?

So I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on the final draft of buying all the stuff. As we all know, heat is the biggest enemy of electronics. My friend recomended the liquid cool'd H60 ( looks like a radiator). I saw this video and now im skeptical, I think they have set this test up to fail.

The sides of the case are off. To me that suggests lack of direct airflow in mass volume at higher speed.

Yes it's a waste, but it's not quite the fail that those nitwits portrayed it to be. If you actually want to use watercooling for overclocking, get something else. If you don't have airflow over the voltage regulators... well duh you're going to have a problem.

Get yourself a decent heatsink, $30-$50 plus a fan, and be done with it. Can't use a low end cooling solution intended for quiet(the h60 eliminates the need for a lot of air intake in some portions of the case, it doesn't eliminate the need for airflow entirely) rigs in a poorly cooled OC'd system and expect results.

Off the top of my head, I'd say take a look at thermalright(not thermaltake) and noctua.

I have a Thermal Take or Coolermaster (I forgot which one) V-8 that I got for around $47 and it has worked great on my Phenom 955 black edition quad core. No need for any of this water cooling. I prefer my cases to be as light as possible, so when I lan party them I do not need a forklift and can grab everything in one trip. I have always hated water cooling. And with cases having almost entirely open bodies, case side off or on does not seem to matter as much, just slap a few decent fans in there to circulate the air and things will usually be okay.

I have the H60 on 3 different computers with no problems. At this point I would not switch back to conventional cooling.

yea the h60 is not meant of oc'ed machines. and if you do oc, at least get smart and get a dual fan setup on the rad to do a push/pull and use their SP line of fans that was actually designed to move air through rads.

you want to oc, you need at least the h80 if not h100

Thanks guys! I'll look into the H70 or 80. + the upgraded heat sinks.

Unless you're going to do some mad OCing then there's no need for water cooling but if you do, get a better set up.

A nice hsf can do the job and it's cheaper

A nice closed loop water cooling system is the way to go IMO overclocking or not, lots of companies make them so you should look at all your options.

Here is a toms guide on four pretty good ones

With big radiators and no vents, closed-loop coolers give us a taste of liquid-cooling’s benefits, sans the risk. While less punishing on the motherboard than big air, can any closed-loop liquid cooler beat Noctua's famed NH-D14 in thermal performance?

Go with a Aquarium PC setup, put the entire PC into a tank full of mineral oil and cool EVERYTHING down at the same time:

                  Pretty expensive though.

I think the corsair H series is great. I own one myself. Has worked flawlessly with no modification and even when I do overclock. I'd say go for it. I won't go back to traditional cooling after using one of these. Just my opinion of course

I'm super happy with the H100 I have on my rig. I don't OC anything but it's nice to keep things cool without sitting next to a wind tunnel.
