Well, the sequel to my all time favorite game, Company of Heroes, was released yesterday. I am just going to wait for Steam to put it on sale (currently $60) and then I will buy it. I've been playing CoH since 2006, so there is quite a bit of replay value there...

Unfortunately, Nvidia in my experience has had rather poor support for OpenGL (the video drivers crash constantly when I use OpenGL based programs) and ATi/AMD in my experience has much better OpenGL compatibility, plus if I ever got a second or third or fourth monitor, I could have quite a few more with ATi/AMD than Nvidia, and ATi/AMD lets me have monitors that are made by *shock* different companies on the same span display.

I haven't played any PC games since some retro-BBS games (like TradeWars2002) a year or ago (I used to play back in the 80s as a kid). It was cool playing with some of the newer add-on tools, but after a month or so, it started to wear (think FarmVille-type games, where you have to check in daily and spend your moves, etc.). I don't want a time commitment like that.

Before that, I was playing the a number of the "Humble Indie Bundle" games. World of Goo was a big hit, which we later bought for the Android and Wii.

We run Linux on all of our PCs and don't do Windows (and it's been like that since about '99), and all the Humble Indie Bundle games run on Linux, plus we spent like $20 for 5 games and could legally put it on all the PCs we own, so $20 / ( 4 PCs * 5 games ) = $1/game.

I really dislike paying for games, especially when there are so many FOSS games I can legally play for free and just don't have time for them anyway. Family favorites are FreeCiv, BZFlag, and WarZone 2100 (available for Windows & Mac as well). We also run older hardware, and I'm not going to buy the latest thing (times 4 PCs) so everyone can play them.

What we do buy are Wii games, and we wait a year or so until they're $20 or less. We love the Lego series, and are into the Lego Lord of the Rings series right now. The boys love Call of Duty (we play w/o the language and/or head-to-head). Since we got a Wii U, they can play head-to-head in the same room back to back.

I already have a couple good loadouts that are one-trick ponies but work really well. They my have been nerfed since I quit playing though.

What I mainly didn't like about it is that it's team deathmatch on just a few maps over and over and over. Unless they figure out how to have planet captures and house wars over territories, a single player 'campaign' and an economy of sorts it's going to fold.
