3D printers (print models of own guns)

so staples announce that they will be the first big retailer to carry 3d printers.

i have no practical use for it but printing models of our firearms will be cool. bad part is that its 1000+. anyone want to chip in?

I would only chip in if RRO makes the BCG for the firearms.

"ATF bans 3D printers." I can see the headlines now.

Even though the ATF can't ban anything, if they say it, the sheeple will believe.

did some research print area is only 5.5inch cube so no making long guns or regular sized pistols. only smaller guns. we can make smaller parts. i guess we can make triggers, hammers, short barrels, frames etc and put them together. also snap caps too.

Just read this today, pretty interesting article:

If you think that piece of plastic above is just a toy, you'd be wrong. It's an actual gun. That fires standard handgun bullets. That's 3D printed. Yes,

interesting. i would make the barrel out of metal. dont know how the abs plastic will stand up against the heat.

so who wants to join calguns committee to make plastic firearm?

My experience with 3D printers is that they really, really suck.

I've got a Makerbot at the office and it's a huge piece of sh8t. They're as bad as every other printer out there, except they have a third dimension of potential failure.

You can even build your own! You need a 3d printer to build one lol. There's a sale forum and retail sites to get parts for one.

i wonder if 3d printers will start printing themselves and take over the world?

3d printed guns are already being looked at by legislators.

Saw that on world news last night - actually makes sense to me to somehow regulate those. We will for sure start seeing the 'enhanced' FAA security checks.

Really? You think it makes sense to regulate those? Quick, lets start regulating mills and drill presses as well! Regulate sheet metal! Regulate hydraulic presses! Regulate rivets!

Easy soldier- I didn't say ban. But some kind of looking into would make sense being that they get past metal detectors.
