Looking for input/recommendations on hand held GPS. I want to purchase a hand held GPS for my nephew. He will be using it for hunting, camping, back country fishing. Prefer input from those with hands on experience with these units.

I'm pretty happy with the Garmin RINO. It's a dual purpose unit that includes a GMRS radio. You can also keep track of your buddies if they have the same unit.
I have no other experience with hand held GPS so I cannot offer any kind of comparison.

Yeah, Just about anythig Garmin is prolly good to go with.
+1 for the Rino. I had a Legend but mine is old.7 Billion people on the planet. They aint ALL gonna astronauts. Some will get hit by trains...
Need GOOD SS pins to clean your brass? Try the new and improved model...

And remember- 99.9% of the lawyers ruin it for the other .1%...Comment

Garmin is great.
Currently I use an eTrex Vista Hcx. I use it hiking, backpacking, hunting, biking, for geological field work. Before my current one i used an older eTrex which was pretty awesome at the time as well. There is a new line of eTrex GPS units, but i have no firsthand experience with them.
Another model that came out around the same time as mine is the 60Csx. this is another great model, and there is a newer updated version of this model which i assume is even more stellar than the previous model.
Kinda depends on how much you want to spend, but check out the eTrex line and the GPSmap 62 series. Now we know!Comment
