i need a video converter program.
i want to put some of my videos i have on a ipod so i can watch them when i am out and need to kill time. i used to have a program that would convert video files to something the ipod would accept (.m4v or .mov). the computer i had the program on died years ago and i cant remember what it was called or where i got it. can someone give me a link to a free program that will convert .flv files to .mov or .m4v?

I used an open source version that worked really well.
My buddy's mom needed to convert a video for a granddaughter's school project to iFruity-compatable format, and I think this is the one I used to help her, but it's been a while, so I can 't be sure this is the one: http://www.ffmpeg.org/
It is a CLI application (Windows Command Line Interface), but I think there is a GUI version that didn't work for her on Vista (or might have been Win7).
Upgrading to an Android (w/flashplayer) might be a better option...

Handbrake is hands down the best option for free software. For paid software I prefer DVDFab.Comment

Wondershare and Pinnacle make good thigns, so does AVS I think. One of them had a program specifically for converting things to ipod formats.
There is also the filmbox and superC. (free)
I have not tried handbrake or some of the others mentioned.7 Billion people on the planet. They aint ALL gonna astronauts. Some will get hit by trains...
