I was given a Macbook. It collects dust even though I know how to use it. I much prefer the PC.

Yep. But really, they're all bad. By 2012 I would have expected the OS to be self-aware and anticipate what I'm going to do next. Instead I'm using the same essential computing paradigm that I used in 1984 when the first mac came out. Long past time to do something new and possibly 3-dimensional. Imagine a desktop where instead of double clicking to open a file explorer to see a text-based tree of files, I could navigate a 3-dimensional avatar through a 3-d 'castle' and find the desired document on a table in the counting room next to the dungeon. And there'd be intelligent scantily-clad wench-bots in there to fetch related items for me and set up the counting room the way I like it.

There'd be a calguns room near the back of the castle and instead of writing text-based posts in this linear threaded fashion, we'd meet as 3-d warrior avatars in a virtual shooting range, and just talk to each other using a voice link while busting up bowling pins, melons and hairy trolls with virtual phased plasma rifles.

I work for the school district for I.T. support, Mac doesn't work well with Window base network. Pc all the way..

OS X has supported Active Directory and Kerberos for a very long time. Back when I still sysadmin'ed for the computer labs on my campus, I had about 50 OS X workstations authenticating directly to Active Directory along with CIFS/SMB support for network home directories and roaming profiles, and with with network printers with print quotas.

And this is all *without* extending the Active Directory base schema for "Mac specific" policy objects in AD.

I prefer PC. More games, and easy to upgrade hardware. I don't see any reason to buy a whole new computer just to get the fastest processor. I'v had the same tower for the last 4 years but have upgraded the motherboard/CPU 2 times. I also use PC for both my CCTV systems. I don't know of any companies make CCTV systems for Mac but if they did I may have tried it if the Price was right. Building a custom PC for my CCTV system meant I didn't have to pay $1000 + for a good system(not including cameras). My work(Hospital) uses everything on PC. Our CCTV systems, logs, radios, are all on PC.

I prefer PC as well. I built my PC and know exactly what it's capable of. Been using computers for over 15 years, so the simplicity of a Mac doesn't really appeal to me. Also, I don't feel like training myself how to use excel all over again, since the shortcuts are all different, haha.

Having built, supported, and used both Macs & Windows PCs for over 20 years now, I can safely say that I'm going to stick with the Mac.

* I have Windows sitting here in VMware, and I can fire it up to play games or do some Windows-only task.

* Backups have always felt easier for me on the Mac. More so now with the unix tools right there.

* While there have been a few "Mac viruses" making some tech news over the past few years (and almost all of them were Java) the fact remains that the Mac platform has NOT had anywhere near the virus problem that Windows has suffered from.

Let's admit it, it's a whole lot safer to surf for porn on a Mac too. ^_^

Been using a pc since i was 3...1989, it was a IBM my dad got for doing CAD stuff. I remember turning it on, had to type something and a GUI came up. Opened up the games folder and played skifree and pipes.

Now I have a x200t, 15 mbp, and the desktop i built last summer. The x200t gets used for RC stuff, the the rest is the desktop. The mbp doesnt get used anymore, no need for it. Might gift it to my sister, only used it for school.

Oh yah the desktop I built in 2003 is still alive and kicking, gets used every night running autocad for my dad. Still has xp on it.

The mac was nice, but ive never had problems with windows. And for me, it just works.

Back in the day Macs apparently even had a hard time pulling DHCP from Verizon DSL (my father retired from VZ, and Macs just didn't like using the industry standard DHCP), so they have had more issues than most noobs know about (before their time, pre- OSuX).

If someone doesn't do much on a PC they don't have issues either.

The problem with PCs is really the fact that people that shouldn't be in the Administrators group... are. Removing them would solve much of the "PC's have issues and are more susceptible to more malware" whining via Mac-fans, but nobody wanted to do it, so most PC malware issues was literally PEBKAC, and layer 8 related.

I say this with trepidation, but Microsoft engineered the WINS protocol, NETBEUI, the use of NETBEUI in a TCP packet. Microsoft put up a fierce fight against the opensource standards and lost.
