A mac is worth every expensive penny. So many little things that make it completely worth it.

If you buy a mac you will get what you pay for... if you're worried people will think you wear skinny jeans, drive a miata or some other form of small roadster with matching chuck tailors that is there fault and ignorance... Buy what makes you happy... go to a apple store and play with them... you'll see the beauty and elegance of apple vs normal pc laptops... without macbook pros the pc companies would have nothing to strive for, nothing to keep them on their toes to further innovation... you will always see pc companies trying to look as sleek as the mac and can never pull it off... I love pc just as much as I love my mac... I just use my pc for different things and it matters not what others think... good luck with what you choose... asking mac vs pc is like saying glock vs any other gun... its like throwing a grenade into a crowded room
        LOL.

But to the OP, yeah just go to the mac store and look at a Retina display and browse the web. I went to Calguns! Its... nice...

        *geek warning*
On another note, after I got the Mac I found the terminal... Then found out it is Unix based and started making alias's for all my programs to run off terminal. I just happen to prefer running everything via terminal. Just being able to type in "chrome" and have chrome pop up in Incognito mode with google as the front page is awesomesauce.

But then I was like, oh wait... I wonder if... and typed "python". FINALLY, no more F'n using a stupid little calculator GUI! Ok Mac, you do alot going for you... even Linus Torvalds!

This list alone make me want to never even try a Mac. My work machine and my home machine (PC, PC and linux) all function the same way.

Not so the mac, everything is *ss backwards:

              Ill up that ante:

You can pry my PC from my cold, dead, gamer hands

however if i have to actually spend time making a living : Ill take my macbook w/ retina.

              WHY YOU ASK ?!?!?!?!

a PC is like a Chevy Nova : You found a great deal on one and you decided to add a blower, checkered leather seats and probably furry dice - thing is badass now

a Mac is this : Unix grade control for people that are too jaded to deal with linux distributions and shenans, actually get something accomplished and by that i do not mean playing video games.

a couple of things... love your avatar... Also I agree... I love my PC...Its my gaming machine and I put a lot of sweetness into building this baby of mine... No one touches my sugar lol but my mac is the same way... I use my macbook pro in bed to do lots of my homework late at night when the kids are sleep, I use my macbook pro for everything thats not dealing with games... I use my PC for the same things... entertainment, some school work etc... both are good... Of course I could build a PC to slaughter a MAC... BUT when it comes to laptops...nothing can touch the macbook pro...build quality counts ^^

PC at work... Why? In my industry, SW and Systems engineer in aerospace. Almost all the SW is on PC. Also, better integration with other companies since they are all PC too.

MAC at home... Why? Because when I come home I don't want to deal with the PC BS and just use the thing.

Just try to swap out the keyboard on a MacBook, then do it on most other notebooks.

That in itself is worth the non-Mac.

5 min. on a notebook vs an hour++ job on a Mac, and the notebook k/board replacement is cheaper. Many of the Mac-Fans never took apart a Mac (not a recent one) but it is a nightmare on many of them.

at one job we use PC and i don't like them. at my second job it is nothing but smooth sailing with mac.

at home i have a mac.

i like both, but i prefer mac. the reason is i like the simplicity that they give the user. for example you downloaded a program that is a virus but have not installed it. what do you do? well drag it or send it to the trash can and POOF! it is removed from your computer.
can you let me know what the process is for removing a malicious file from a PC?
mac is simpler to use imo.

The problem I see with current Linux distributions is that their native package management systems make people lazy with regards to updating non-OS packages. Sure, you can run apt-get or yum to update everything. But the second a dependency problem occurs, most people don't understand what went wrong and can't fix it. Not to mention packages are often revisions behind within the package management system.

Lots of students we hire at our campus for SysAdmin positions are heavily reliant on package management and are very green or lack basic knowledge of hand compiling libraries and applications to resolve dependency issues.

Ask a younger self-described "Linux admin" if they can compile Apache HTTP + OpenSSL + mod_ssl + mod_auth_cas on a Solaris box and their eyes glaze over.

But don't get me wrong, I use Centos now for a lot of my server deployments, especially now in a VMWare infrastructure, and have gotten lazy because of yum. But that goes to show the trending of Linux distros. Granted, laziness is a fundamental characteristic of all Systems Administrators (which eventually inspires efficiency within good personnel).

In 5 years and owning two macs, Ive never had to replace a keyboard ...Only a hard drive and that was cake

They are both still running strong

                              Mac!

I got it for video editing for a TV show, but once I got one my wife switched over from PC to Mac.
Then my daughter made the switch from PC and Mac.

However, my son, a online gamer kinda guy, will not switch. Is all uppity and snobby about how a PC is better..... Whatever!
