its not hard to re seat the cpu and half the time that's what it is when you have no beep code no display. (actually last night I built a computer and I had no display no beep code..and it was the cpu seating)
if it was the ram you would usually get a beep code.
in your case I would normally do the following trouble shooting steps until resolved.
Recheck all power connectors
reset cmos by removing the battery for a minute with the computer unplugged.
Remove ram..check if you get a beep code for the ram..if you get a beep code for no ram then the cpu is OK..if you don't then cpu is not seated right or not powering on (you of course should have a midi speaker on the case) - lets assume no beep for no ram
Re seat CPU..check pins and bracket
check power supply
unplug all accessory's (cd drives hard drives etc) and turn the pc on
last step..remove motherboard from case and bench test on a card board box to eliminate the possibility of shorting.
*a note about the ram
ram is installed properly when the clips snap onto the ram with out you touching them..you simply firmly push the ram into the slot and the clips should snap into place and hold the ram inLast edited by Montu; 12-03-2012, 10:12 AM.K.F.K|Μολὼν λαβέComment

Everyone is saying you should hear beep codes, which is true, assuming you have the little piezo speaker plugged into hear it. Seems the little buzzer is sent in a bag and not attached to the MB anymore. Perhaps the little speak was not plugged in and that is why there are no reports of beep codes?
As for the 8 pin ATX PS connection, pins 1-4 are ground and 5-8 are +12V. I can not imagine they would have split the 12 power rails.
If you have not already done so, clear the BIOS by shorting pins 2-3 with the computer switched to OFF. After that, put jumper back to position 1-2 then try to power up the PC.Last edited by MaHoTex; 12-03-2012, 9:53 AM.NRA Life Member

What's the model of the motherboard and what CPU are you using?Comment

Piezos come with the case sometimes. The PCs I've built did not have a piezo with the case or mobo, so I bought them seperate. I there one hanging off the old mobo?
There may be some LEDs on the mobo also that may help telling what is going on.Comment

Check to see if your RAM is on the known compatibility list for your mobo.

Piezo is just a replacement for the speaker. No big deal but you need to have it to hear the beep codes. Did you try resetting the BIOS yet?NRA Life Member

best internet/tech forum troll this year
I can hear the techies here salivating over this dilemma
and yes, speakers do frequently come with the case - if you have not properly established the speaker to the mobo, do so.Just another Boy and His Dog.

Sorry guys I had some personal issues yesterday and it was my first day off in a long while and ended up spending it with a friend watching movies and having a few drinks.
Looking at my case I do not have the wires to plug in for speakers I have external speakers which are plugged into the Green audio port. I have tested the psu and its giving me the 600 watts its supposed to.Comment

How did you test this?
As for a case speaker, this is what you get with your case or mobo.
