Yeah I already have the net gear power line adapters with a second wireless router upstairs but the signal is pretty slow/inconsistent. I get a flashing red light which indicates slow speeds. I'm starting to think that I just need to run an Ethernet cable up through the walls to a wall jack to get what I'm going for.

The powerline stuff sucked just a year or two ago. The new stuff is damn good...well at least the Belkin I am using.

You can get very different result from different AC power outlet in the house. Might be worth experimenting a little.

Also, some things can interrupt the signal. For example if you plug it into a power strip or UPS, or have one of those touch-to-turn on light fixture in same room where one of the adapters is located, you'll have problematic results.

I plug the adapter directly to the wall AC outlet for best result.

But, if you can fish a Ethernet cable through the walls, it'll provide the best result. Sometimes I wish my place is wired with Ethernet ports.

Please if you are going to network PLEASE just run some cat-5e or cat 6 cable through the walls and be done with it.

When people start getting all exotic and finding weird ways to network sometimes things just come to a crashing halt with disasterous results...

I prematurely adjusted my belkin omniport pro 4 port kvmp switch today with my 44 mag at the range. It felt good that 7 or my 9 shots were accurate but now I am hurting for a kvmp that WORKS.
