new computer build...what do you guys think.

I decided to get back into gaming. So i built a new computer. Last computer i built was back in 2003 and its still going strong, with a slightly overclocked amd chip in it. That was a budget gaming build, this one was a dont go to crazy build.

    specs:
    asus p8z77-v pro
    evga gtx670 ftw
    intel i5 3570k
    16 gb corsair ram (4*4)
samsung blue ray combo/drive (yes i still need my cd's)
    wd green 5600rpm 2tb drive
seagate momentus xt 500gb (main drive)
    silverstone strider 750watt ps
    silverstone tj04 case

Iam also using a blackwidow keyboard, logitech g500 mouse, and asus ve228h monitor.

Man this thing screams. boarderlands, l4d2, starcraft, mw3 and mas effect run great at 1080p with everyting cranked up. mw3 never dips below 200fps. I dont think ill be overclocking this rig

    now some pictures (internal shots)

    how bad the back looks.

    Thanks for looking

that case sucks huge cow utter like my Coolmaster i currently have does.

Why and who ever thought putting an 800w PCU @ the rear bottom of a case and blowing exhaust up into the GPU 2 is a good idea?

    /rage

I miss the days when the PSU was @ the top and it's exhaust port was there as well ( at the top).

I was thinking the same thing. Nice looking comp though. I like the Z77 mobo. I got a Z68 that kicks butt but I would eventually like to upgrade to a Z77

Actually placing the power supply at the bottom of the case makes great sense from a thermal management stand point. Otherwise heat produced by all the components need to through the power supply when it is at the top of the case and potentially overheating the power supply.

One question, does the case have air venting holes right below the PSU? If so flip over the power supply so that it draws in cool air from below the case and exits it to the rear. I've build a few that way and really help the stability of the power supply.

Ill try and flip the ps after work tonight. Yes the case has filters on every in going fan port.

The exhaust is to the rear, so it goes outside of the case. The intake fan on a PSU is the internal one, so it's actually pulling in cooler air from the intake fan on the chassis. Having the PSU at the top of the case means that the hot air from the videocard, CPU, and motherboard is constantly being drawn into the PSU.

Unless you have a case like the RV-02 or FT-02 where the board is flipped 90 degrees on the opposite side of the case, putting the PSU on the bottom is the only way to keep it from being cooled with air that's already been heated by the rest of the components in the case.

The only thing that having the PSU at the bottom like the TJ-04 heats up is the cables behind the case, whoopdeedoo.

Nice jobs. I love the cable management.

How are the startup times on that hybrid drive?

What's it look like with the case sealed, or is it to be used as-is (without the sides placed on) for staying REALLY cool?

Actually, the air flows are as shown.

Nice rest of the built, btw. But you would probably want to turn around the top two fans. Remember heat rises so you want to exhaust hot air at the top of the case and 'suck in' cool air at the front and bottom. Otherwise you create a lot of back pressure on those two fans. The side panel fan should be blowing in.

Nice. Although I personally would have SSD hard drives for speed and performance. Can you say 7 second boot time?

Hybrid drives load the OS into an SSD front end and then use "regular" disk for storage.

The heat goes through the PS regardless of it position. It has an exhaust fan that suck the heat out no matter where its at in your tower.
