    car laptop adapter

I want to take my laptop camping and keep it charged. A long time ago I recall I had a 12v to 110 adapter that worked ok. It is long gone. My laptop is a Hp with, I believe, a 18 volt battery. I don't need enough current to run the laptop, just to charge it over night. Is there a readily available unit that will do that?

How does a 18v laptop run on the 13.6 my car puts out throught the ciggy lighter?

Thanks. Btw going to Yellowstone for the first time, CCW all the way and back.

its a different amperage...18v lower amps...hope im right

its tough to just find a converter with the right volts and required amps for 12v source with the right plug type ..even those universal ones are iffy

or maybe just buy another GOOD inverter

ebay is your best hope for this....this is my opinion so wait to see what others say

Bought a Xantrex 175-watt inverter -- like this one --

about 10 years ago for @ $25. Hard to believe it's going for 90 bucks used on Amazon now.

Check Harbor Freigt Tools... 200/400w inverter is like $30 on sale.

                  I have a 12v to 19v cig plug and
                  150-200w 12v to 120vac. Both work ok.

Search for 'hp auto charger' om fleabay. Most all HP laptops are 18.5 volts, and you can find one for around $20. This method is much more efficient than using an inverter as you are only suffering losses once as opposed to twice.

Either order the car plug from HP or use an inverter. If you get the car adapter you can probably use it on the plane too.

Targus makes a universal power supply (90 watt) that has charging tips for most laptops. It comes with a cigarette adapter that works great.
