Picked up Plants vs Zombies and L4D2 thus far. Considering Trine 2.. looks like a fun little game for < $4. If I see Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning go on 50% or better sale, I might pick it up.

Got to start playing Arkham Asylum on my laptop for a little bit. This isn't going to work out so well, I don't think ... I had an average FPS of 44 (max of 112) with the graphics options cranked ... but I also had a CPU core temp of 95.
I think mebbe I'd better look at playing this on the big computer instead.

Awh,you had my hopes up therehaha. Would be cool to play Batman on my laptop. Dang, I should get HalfLife as I've never played it before. Have just watched my cousin play hl2R.I.P. Thomas C.Originally posted by d4v0sMy girlfriend and i used froglube last night in a pinch and it works great.Comment

Oh, it plays great on the laptop, even with all the good visual stuff turned on. The frame rates on the desktop are only a little higher than the laptop, even though I'm running a pair of 4870's in crossfire and I'm only using a 720p HDTV for a monitor. I can actually do better in terms of visual stuff on the laptop than I can on my desktop.
Problem isn't the performance, it's the heat. I know that the Sandy Bridge mobile i7 chips are supposed to be good up until they start throttling at 100c, but it's still incredibly disconcerting to me to see CPU temps at that level.NRA Life Member

I finished up my Sims 3 collection, bought the entire Microsoft Flight DLC for a huge discount during a Flash Sale, and picked up Toy Soliders which is cute and fun. A friend got the uber pack of Frozen Synapse and gifted me a copy, and that reminds me of the retro games of old.
I both love and hate the Steam sales. Love them for the awesome prices, hate them because I want to buy too much and I have so many games I haven't finished yet."There's no such thing as an assault rifle," he said. "These are 'military-style rifles' or 'modern sporting rifles.' "Comment

That reminds me - I think my wife would really like The Sims... I may have to get her that.
I feel your pain on loving / hating the Steam sales ... I'm RIGHT there with you. I've got 123 items in my Steam library right now, and I think I've only ever even installed maybe half of them. Some I've installed, played once or twice, and didn't like. A lot of them were just stupid little indie games that I only bought to support the developer.
I just picked up Fable III for the wife and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood went on sale today, so I got that for myself.NRA Life Member

Wow, I don't feel so bad now... I think I have 107 or something like that. Haha!
I cannot tell you how many hours I've whiled away on the Sims... such a good investment as I've easily gotten my money's worth.
I've heard that the Fable series is REALLY good, as well.
Personally, after posting that message, I was in a bit of a destructive mood and picked up Serious Sam 3: BFE for a cool $10. Cracks me the hell up.
Couldn't play very much though because the framerates made me kinda motion sick. I guess that's one of the signs of an aging gamer.
I'll take Dramamine next time."There's no such thing as an assault rifle," he said. "These are 'military-style rifles' or 'modern sporting rifles.' "Comment

this thread = i now realize that i probably haven't bought a single game from anywhere since i got my dota2 beta key. idk if that's a good or bad thing...
btw if anyone is looking for a deep and dynamic game to play but don't like dealing with stuff like micro in other games like SC2 (ie myself) this is a good game for that. very bad game if you like the run and gun style games like call of battlefield mall ninjas shot 50 times dont die 20 things on your gun type games

If anyone is into trains, Railworks 3 is 90% off for the game and a few expansions, and 50% off for all other DLC. Not for very long, though."There's no such thing as an assault rifle," he said. "These are 'military-style rifles' or 'modern sporting rifles.' "Comment

For those of you that are more familiar with the sale than I am:
Will a game be featured on sale again? I'm looking to buy 3 indie games on the cheap and I missed out on one the other day.
"Limbo" was on sale for $3 one or two days ago and now it's on sale for $6. Should I wait for it to possibly go back down to $3? I'm also looking at "Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet" which I haven't seen be featured but is on sale for $9 instead of $15. Should I wait there too? From what I understand, it will be on sale until the 23rd.
I'm buying "Super Meat Boy" right now for $3-something
I wish my laptop could run "Amnesia" really well. It's only $5!

Arghhh..."Nexuiz" is $2 but my laptop would blow up
I read it's not doing well as far as servers go, though. No one to play with.

Things do sometimes go on sale more than once, but it's usually not for the same amount. Last year, though, the final day of the sale was all of the previous best-selling items, back on sale for whatever the price had been.NRA Life Member

Also, Javi, if your laptop can't run Amnesia really well, then it's REALLY time to get a new laptop. The minimum specs are all 2005 hardware. What're your specs?NRA Life Member

I'm just going on what I asked someone in another forum when the game came out. The numbers in the names of these graphic cards go well over my head. I didn't intend for this laptop to be my main game player gizmo
It just happened haha.
Toshiba Satellite L655D
Processor: AMD Athlon II P320 dual-core 2100 mhz
RAM: 4GB
Video Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series
It's a good multimedia laptop. Very nice step up from my Dell that I received as a high school graduation present.R.I.P. Thomas C.Originally posted by d4v0sMy girlfriend and i used froglube last night in a pinch and it works great.Comment
