How old is your machine?

I have an AMD socket 7 machine that still runs. Haven't cracked it open in a while, but I think it's sporting an AMD K6, 128mb SDRAM a GF 2 MX and a super big 850mb Maxtor drive. Played a lot of Quake 2 on that bad boy.

My current machine is an HP DV7T with a Core i5 2450M, 7690M graphics, 6GB DDR3 and a 750GB drive.

My gaming box is getting long in the tooth (unlike Merc's). It's got an Athlon II X3 445, GF GTX 460 1GB, 4GB Adata DDR2. Pretty tame. But, it runs all the stuff I play and can still handle Witcher 2. I suppose I'll have to upgrade before Deus Ex 4 (or DEHR2) or Mass Effect 4. That is, if they decide to make them.

built my machine 2 or 3 yrs ago using amd six core, 1gb video card, 4gb ram, 1tb hdd, 750 watt power source, coolermaster tower, and samsung dvd cd player. its still running strong, i dont really download things much and run popular games like sc2, skyrim, total war etc.

My laptop is new as of January - i7-2630QM / nVidia GT540M. It does most of what I want, but the 15" screen sucks for gaming.

My gaming machine ... that's about 4 years old now, most of it. Couple parts are older, couple are newer. Listed in order purchased:

- 250 GB WD hard drive - 2004
- 500 GB WD hard drive - 2006
- Coolermaster CMStacker case - 2006
- Radeon 4870 512 MB - 2008 (first one bought)
- AMD Phenom 9850+ - 2008
- 8 GB GSkill DDR2-800 - 2008 (2 GB died in 2010, haven't had the energy to send them back)
- Gigabyte GA-MA785-UD3 (I think that's what it's called) - 2010 - (Replaced prev MB which died without killing the CPU)
- Corsair 1 kW PSU - 2010 (Replaced BFG 750W, whose death throes took the MB and 2 GB of RAM with it)
- Radeon HD 4870 512 - 2010 (Second one, purchased used, to do CrossfireX)
- New-ish Logitech keyboard / mouse combo - 2011 (I took my G15 and MX Revolution to use at work)
- Seagate Barracuda 1TB HD (2011)

It's pretty old, but it still keeps up with most of the gaming that I actually want to do, and does it really well because I'm only using those 4870's to drive a 720P 50" DLP TV.

Hahahaaa, I have a similar IBM sitting in front of me right now... Circa 1990, but with a 10-key too.

I had one at work, but there were keys that were less functional than they once were, and I replaced that with a Unicomp.

I cannot use current Wyse keyboards (PS/2 OR USB) that come with our thin clients, as I can roll my fingers to the next key when typing. If the next key is pressed prior to lifting the prior, then the second key does not register if say rolling from 6-7-8, and this issue does not exist on the IBM(/Lexmark), or Unicomp.

Nice! Haha ya I had to pull an arm and a leg to get the one without the 10 key numpad but it was worth it. I've tried so many other keyboards none are nearly as satisfying as the model ms. I hear good things about the unicomp tho.

I have a Dell 4600 and run XP on it. It is getting long in the tooth, but I really also like XP and don't want to get rid of it. I bought my wife a Dell lap top with Windows 7 and I do not like to use it.

I built a new desktop two years ago. Asus M/B, Intel I7 930, 12 Gb memory, running Win7 64 professional.

Best comp I've ever had. Zero problems (except once it wouldn't come out of sleep). And I'm really impressed with Win7.

Dang I was still running on a P3 450mhz with win98 up until the day Microsoft stopped supporting win98. I think it was in 2009 sometime? I originally built the system in 1998-99. So after I had to give it up in 2009 I got a dell from a friends mother. It was built in 2006 but just took a poop on me last month.

I am proud to say I just built a new system with a Pentium i3, 4GB ddr3 ram, 500GB 3GB/S 7200 32MB CACHE hd, 600w PS, Windows 7 64 (I like it alot just like 98 on steroids), The motherboard is an older but still very new Z68 ASUS. I cannot believe how quick this thing is for only being an i3. I got a pretty good MB with the options to upgrade everything. It has 2 slots for 6 gb/s HD's, and 4 slots for 3gb/s HD's. Plus a ton of other stuff. I cant believe all the different options that came on the MB and the BIOS is awesome with a graphic interface and one click over clocking features. I just plugged everything in and it installed everything. Including the blue ray player!

5 years is way too long for me. I wouldn't want my "new" systems to be something that was standard 5 years ago with how I run them, and then run that for a couple years. Ouch.

It true you can see the difference, in benchmarks. Practically speaking, unless gaming, there isn't any.

I still have my AMD 600 (which I overclocked to 650 or so), 2.1 gig HD and I dunno how much memory from the year 2000. I made more money with that box, using Tradestation,and kept track of more employees, than any since. I did have to keep track of HD space, but since it took a week to download a movie, there was time to do that.

I upgrade every now and then whenever I have spare change.
