^ wouldn't worry about it if everything is working but you can run some programs to test our your memory if you get some odd ball errors

The bottom line to this whole thing is if you can physically be sure your data is safe your'e telling me you wont take that step?

      I guess that's your choice.

If the drive is shot ask if you can keep it due to it containing sensitive information. You'd be surprised how often they let you keep the drive upon request, especially if you have a business class machine.

dban doesn't work on a lot of laptops. Especially ones with sd card readers built in.

I managed to get dban to work as soon as I disabled "media reader" or something in BIOs. Kinda funny when the tech was over he was on speaker phone with another customer who was supposed to be getting her HDD changed and she raised the same concerns. I overheard that Dell will let you keep it for up to seven days and mail it to them yourself.

Hey what's up guys? I just bought a Hard Drive at the swap meet today and found a file called Brandon04GT's girlfriend pics - where can I host them?

j/k - I have to send in an alienware laptop back to dell for a hinge fix. Sucks that it happened, but good that they are fixing them all, even out of warranty.
