I have the HP AIO Officejet 8500A, HP LaserJet M1522n monochrome AIO laser, HP 2600 color laser, and a Fuji SnapScan scanner.

Love the Snapscan, while it's great for documents, it can't do mags, books, etc.

The 2600 is a very solid laser, but toner is way pricey.

The M1522 is a good performer, toner cost is okay.

The Officejet 8500A gets the most work, and hasn't given us any problems. I'm about to install a continuous ink system, if it works as advertised it will be a great system.

Epson Atrisan 835 does it all for us.

But - Just about any new on the market unit will work and last 3-4 years then get another one. Part of the technology rebuild-retool-replace infrastructure to keep China going.

I have an older dell Mfp network color laser that refurb was cool. Maybe a 3100 cn? Have only 10,000 pages on it built for 20-40k pages a month. Looks like they are out of all refurb printers right now.. I would buy another though. Also bought a 5100cn std laser network printer that does duplex. Again, a couple generations ago. But rated for like 60,000 pages a month. The hp cm1415 we have at work. It's slow, but nice.

HP invented the category and outsells all the others by a wide margin...

There is a reason for this...

If you want to buy at Costco check out the hp 7500 or 8600 series.

As an old IT guy I'm a fanatic for HP in a corporate environment but not for homes or home offices. The requirements are simply not the same in a home environment. For homes I'm a big fan of Brother all in one lasers because of their small footprint, reliability, bang for the buck, and the low cost of supplies. I bought a brand new $215 MFC-7460DN last year on sale for $100 which was a heck of a deal but they regularly go on sale for $150-170ish. If you don't need fax capability and few do anymore then a $150 DCP-7065DN is a lot cheaper and often goes on sale for a lot less, in fact Amazon had it for $100 in March. Brother branded high yield (2600 page) toner sells for $45 and every 12,000 pages you replace the drum. If you were in a business environment and printing thousands of pages a month and/or scanning/faxing dozens of pages a day I'd say buy heavier duty but in reality few home users ever scan more than a few pages a month or print more than a hundred pages a month and these are good for many times that.

A nice thing about these is you can have it send scans directly to any computer on your network.

                MFP-7460DN Highlights:
                • Print / Copy / Fax / Scan
                • Ethernet Networking
                • 27ppm & 27cpm
                • 2400 x 600 dpi
                • Duplex Printing
                • 250 Sheet Standard Paper Capacity
                • 35 Sheet ADF Capacity
                • Windows & Mac Driver Compatibility
                • 8.5 x 14" Maximum Paper Size
                • Energy Star Qualified

                DCP-6065DN Highlights:
                • Print 26 Pages/Minute
                • Automatic Duplex Print & Copy
                • Network-Ready

This is a topic near and dear to my heart. If you don't need color, don't waste your time with inkjets. A color cartridge will always run out when you need that print job now!

I have a solo law practice and run a fair number of pages daily through our Canon ImageClass D1150 MFP. It may be overkill, but it has been very reliable, although you have to go through multiple steps to scan documents. I purchased it for $699 a couple of years ago and the price has dropped since then. Generic toner is only $40 and last about 10 reams of paper before replacing.

I think Fry's, Staples, and Office Depot carry it, or get it online. Here are some reviews and specs:

Always get the machine one or two models above the one you think you need. You will never complain about having too much capability and you won't outgrow it so fast.

I have a hp 6500 all in one that works great. If you dont need great color prints, you can get a lot of mileage out of each ink cartridge on draft mode. Ive had mine for over 2 years with no complaints
