All in 1 Print, Copy, Scan. Inkjet or Laser?

Just for home use. Not particular on brands, but would like to buy at Costco. What are you running at home?

If you don't need color this one isn't bad.

Depends how much you print. Bought a nice Ink Jet all in 1 at Targete for around $60. Works great for the home. Can buy cheap aftermarket ink online too.

Don't waste time with ink jets. Stick with laser. The hp stuff is usually ok. Brother stuff is hit and miss but generally crap, in a business situation anyway. Kyocera is great if you want to drop $1200 on a multi function... but it always works.

Costco selection is kind of limited, and not really that much better on pricing.

If b/w is ok, a laser will last a long time.
Since I work with printing for a living I have an Epson, HP, Lexmark, and a Brother. They all work well. The newer models should have compatability with Airprint so you can print from any Apple products without having to set up shares. I like the Epson mobile application - I can scan using my iPod touch as the controller - as it is not in the same room as my PC.

We use the Canon MF4350D. Works very well for home/small business needs. Also works with generic toner

All-in-one's have multiple parts that could die. I prefer separate devices, so you are only out one at a time if a single function dies, but I am old-school, and have B&W lasers, as I don't need pretty pictures. My expensive ink(-jets) sit idle w/dry ink wells unplugged.

I can't tell you how many all-in-one's I have seen replaced because only one part died. If you have $3xy+ to buy a new one every 1-2 years (rather than prepping for "Zombies" and buying ammo) and like spending money on overpriced ink, then I say go for an all-in-one...

I bought a Lexmark Pro700 about 2 years ago when I wanted a cheap wireless network printer for home use. It was on sale for about $140 and it turned out to be a great deal.
It's printed 1000's of pages, burned through several sets of ink cartridges and it's still going strong.
I never intended it to get so much use when I bought it, but now the wife uses it constantly...

My wife has a cheap all-in-one HP ink jet that doesn't work that great. It works, but not great.

I have used lots of different systems. I have had several Brother MFC systems (not flat bed systems) I use for faxes at the office and they NEVER die. I have one that is at least 10 years old.

I suggest you check out the price of supplies. When I had ink jet systems I spend way more on supplies than with laser printers. I won't get anything other than laser printers.

We just bought a replacement ink jet at Costco. Got the HP 8600 Plus package. We don't print a lot, but I looked at some of the cheaper printers and the cost of the ink cartridges was pretty high. So you get a low price for the printer and pay more for the ink. The 8600 was a bit more, but the cartridges printed more pages for less money.

Of course, two days after we got it home the Costco flier came in the mail and it was $75 off. The woman at the return desk said they could not give me a discount after the fact, but I could go buy another printer at the lower cost and then return that printer with the first (more expensive) receipt. That worked fine. So far very happy with this one, and it does wireless as well.

The item shows unavailable on the site, but the picture is still there.

Good choice with the OfficeJet Pro 8600!

I went with the HP PhotoSmart Premium C310 (inkjet) a few years back. It's works really well for what little printing that I use it for. It scans, copies, and prints; all this and it was wireless for $99.

OP, don't forget that Costco has a 90 day return policy for Electronics. If it doesn't really fit well with what you do, return it and get a better one. Also, for economical printing you might want to just get a separate laser printer for black and white printing only and inkjet for color.

^^^^ Speaks the truth. We have a couple hundred around here and I HATE them, even though I rarely have to work on them any more except when covering for the help desk guys. Well, except the Kyocera, those things pretty nice. Parts rated for something like 300,000 clicks and modular so you can replace things yourself.

HP CM1415fnw Laserjet Pro. It runs off the USB port on my router and wireless for the iPad,iPhone. Color and BW, Costco had them last time I looked.

This. They are garbage. Buy a good printer, scanner, and a fax machine if you need it. Better to have 3 good machines instead of one crappy one.
