Waiting until Windows 9. 7 works fine for now, I think 8 is going to another "Vista" or "Win98ME " iteration of horrible OS from MS.
Win95, good albiet it was buggy.
Win95 OSR2, improvment
Win98, nice
Win98SE, nicer
Win98ME: WTF? They wrecked it!
Win2000: ah better, while we wait for...
WinXP: better, stable, good stuff
Vista: ****
Win 7: Pretty decent though they messed up some stuff like networking, also too many different versions
Win 8: From what I've seen so far I expect it to be a net loss in terms of improvement over 7.
I see no reason why MS can't continue with Win 7 for a few more years, greedy *******
P.S. Would also be nice if MS just had ONE iteration of an OS, no more of this Home/Professional/Enterprise BS. Save that crap for server OS.
I could not agree more. My co-worker and I tested it somewhat last week at work.
Absolute garbage. Just a bunch of Ugly GUI's on laid on top of Win7. Not going to touch it with a ten foot pool.Firearms successfully returned by the CA Department of Justice. Probation expires October 2014.

Thank your neighbor and fellow gun owners for passing Prop 63. For that gun control is a winning legislative agenda.

I just hope monitor manufactures do not start making all monitors touchscreen. You lose brightness, they cost more and are pointless for most applications.Oppressors can tyrannize only when they achieve a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace. -- James Madison

Fortunately display manufacturers seem slow as dirt when it comes to new technology, plus the added cost of a touch screen function built into a 27" display would drive consumers away from it. Heck, they're still having a hard time selling 3d monitors with technology that's actually had content available for years.
And then there are two other problems with using a touch screen display
1: Who the hell wants to hold their arms forward for hours at a time waving them around to use the computer.
2: It's already a fight to keep my monitor spotless without touching the thing constantly, it would be impossible to keep fingerprints off of it if it were a touch screen. I can't even imagine a screen kids used, I'd go through half a bottle of cleaner a day trying to keep it clean.Comment

You're confusing 3D TVs with 3D monitors. 3D monitors are actually selling pretty good and can be had now for not much more than a non-3D monitor. They're much better for gaming than they are for watching crap in 3D.
Touch screens on computers will never be anything more than a cheap gimmick, the only place they make sense is on tablets and phones. And then there are two other problems with using a touch screen display

I'm skipping this one, kinda like the current video cards. Not much improvement been made, seems to be going for fads.

No I'm not. 3d monitors and TVs rely on the same technologies to display 3d images. That being active shutter glasses, or polarized lenses. A 27" low end monitor can be had for $300, the equivalent panel quality(usually TN panels) but with 3d support runs around $600. Crosstalk between the 3d images is the same problem on monitors and TVs as is the loss of brightness simply by wearing the 3d glasses. Nvidia's integrated driver support has only been around for a few years, but with CRTs not relying as much on the monitor needing to support it, other companies had been making attempts at universal 3d for 3d rendered games since the late 90's including even anaglyph 3d support(red/blue glasses) but shutter glasses were doable since plenty of CRTs were capable of higher than 60hz refresh rates.
IZ3d, Wicked3d(metabyte), and Elsa come to mind.
But even with stereoscopic 3d standardized on the card, and ignoring the costs of the monitor and the glasses, you've still got issues with the games themselves properly supporting it(sometimes UI problems, resolution problems, not handling multiple monitors, etc.).Comment
