That guy is exactly right, BioWare screwed the pooch big time.

So essentially.. these gamers totally disregard hours upon hours of awesome gameplay and story due to 5 minutes at the end? I can kind of see where Bioware was going and I admit the execution is bad. My guess is they were trying to do some spin off of something similar to Battlestar Galactica (they seem like genuine fans, even have Saul doing Bailey's voice).

At least it did get Bioware's attention and as a result, I'll get something new for it.

Not necessarily. The forums I have read, and myself included, overwhelmingly point out how good the game and entire series are. Most people don't need a "happily ever after" ending. I think that everyone who has played the entire series was pretty sure that Shepard would sacrifice himself, and were OK with that as long as there was some decent closure.

On top of all that, Bioware had always said that all your choices matter and will have an impact on the outcome. Instead, we find out that none of your choices mattered at all and that everyone gets screwed in the end. I suppose that the current ending is one of the most realistic, cold endings that one could expect. There are a few other reasons that people are worked up about the ending. Read the article I posted earlier. It's a long read but it does a good job of explaining what people are worked up about.

Not really, all 3 games are still fun(really liking multiplayer right now), it's just that the ending came out of left field, and in a series that put particular emphasis on the choices you make playing the game, no choice made up to that point(aside from how many side quests and how much exploration you did) made the slightest difference in the ending.

And I think your right about the spinoff, the ME series to way to profitable for them to drop it now(see Halo 4 as an example of a new game after the series is "done").

Yes, they forgot the hours upon hours of entertainment to vent their spleens about the last couple minutes. Same folks that are also handwringing and whining about the LGBT content in ME and SWTOR.

There is a reason developers shouldn't listen to the community about certain things, they're insane.

Well, I was kind of hoping the endings you got were more dependent on earlier games plus some sort of epilogue. So at least they're getting the epilogue part right (unless they fugger that up too in which case the nerd rage will be hilarious).

The sad thing about the Bioware response, they'll be rewarded with more complaints.

The problem isn't that the ending was "bad" per se, it's that your actions have virtually no consequense on the outcome. X, Y, and Z happens regardless of which final option you choose, and ALL of them are completely independant of ALL of your actions of the previous three games up till then (other than one or two little aspects, which have no barring affect on the outcome, and only relate to your galactic strength, not moral choices).

It's frustrating not just in its simplicity, but its lack of ability to handle concluding a story some of us have put hundreds of hours into across three games. It feels like they were rushed to meet deadlines. There isn't "16 endings," there's one with +/-5% change between each other. Rather than expand so many things that could have been, they just toss a quick catch-all ending and hope for the best. With such a vast, rich, and lush universe filled with so many different life forms, relationships, and interactions, it seemed to be a lazy, time-constraint, cop-out to take the route they did.

Another theory a friend of mine mentioned is the possible reasoning for a wipe like that could set the groundwork for a possible Mass Effect MMO... Who knows on that one...

Honestly, given the intricacy that the ME universe has generated in just 5 years, I think I'd enjoy a ME based MMORPG. That idea appeals a lot more to me than SW:TOR.
