And how much did this run?
Not sure of the retail cost. Expensive. You can use the
on-line build tool to get a cost. You can buy a cheap new
    car for less.

Not many other desk-side Windows systems will have the sustained
capacity to run at around 10K frames per second for an hour or so.
    (Disk space fills eventually.)
What about the 19th? Can the Commerce Clause be used to make it illegal for voting women to buy shoes from another state?

Can you point me to that?

lol why pay an arm and a leg for apple or i7 system when u only use it for video editing? Build a rig with i3 or phenom ii x4 processor, 8 gigs of ram, install Ubuntu Linux, get the right software, then its all skills. oh and might need a video card somewhere in between

The fact that you would recommend Linux (and Ubuntu) for video work for someone obviously already in a Windows work flow makes little to no sense.

"get the right software, then its all skills"? Of course it's all skill. But it doesn't hide the fact that Linux is not going to give the OP anywhere near an adequate or remotely ideal toolset to work with the native H.264 dSLR video coming off that Canon.

If you want to come off as being technically savvy, why didn't you just recommend FreeBSD and for him to do a source compile/install of KDEnlive with a custom kernel? It would have been even more technically sounding and make about the same amount of sense as recommending Ubuntu Linux.

Ubuntu Linux is easy to work with unless u want to do serious customizaiton. Software is provided for free. Just learn to use it. Derpa

              Sorry for the delay.
              A place to start is

But that is not so helpful. Get the chat option going.

You want the configuration with 2x "Intex Xeon CPU X5690 @ 3.47Ghz"
and 48 GB DDR3 RAM. I have the full order sheet, but it has the
HP internal pricing, and I cannot send that to you.

The next generation version is not out yet, but it has twin 8-core Xeons,
and 4x the cache. I expect to up the frame rendering rate from 10K
per second to 1M per minute.

This thread is going in a million directions. Let me simplify it. Just buy that system. The 2600k integrates the graphics in the CPU die. It also has a special technology called QSV (Quick Sync Video) which is designed to speed up video editing. Will a $500 video card render faster? Yes. Is it worth it? I doubt that it is in most cases.

If you find you need to jam a video card in later, I'm sure you can find one that will fit.
