      Canon T3i records H.264. There's no 'Youtube setting' on the camera. The video straight from camera can technically be uploaded straight from camera to youtube.

      But no one does this because people still want to cut/edit the video first. But the issue is what settings to use when exporting from the video editing program to get decent quality rendering on youtube/vimeo/etc.

        Yes, make sure you max out RAM at 16GB or whatever.

          all i can say is nvidia is garbage and overated. i would get an msi motherboard with a radeon graphics card and an amd cpu, and you dont need to max your ram out or get a 2 gig video card. you can make do with 6 or 8 gigs of ram and a 1 gig video card. heck for the price of some 2 gig video cards you could just as easily get 2 1 gig cards. just my .02

            Considering commodity RAM is so cheap, there's no reason to go beyond 8GB RAM if the board supports it. More often than not, 4x4GB is less than $100. For video editing, you'll want that extra RAM.

                Aren't YouTube settings only found on Flip's and the like? Is the sound card going to be important or can I get away with something more basic?

                  My Panasonic doesnt have YouTube settings either. Not sure what that post was referring to. IME, you'll want to follow that video's steps as it's the best quality at the lowest file size. And I dont think the sound card is important.
                  FWIW - if you get a good Nvidia video card, the latest Sony Vegas has acceleration for it so the rendering will go faster.

                    Uhm, what I read was this:

                    you can make do with 6 or 8 gigs of ram and a 1 gig video card.
                    And I said, 4x4GB is usually under $100, so there's no reason to not get more RAM.

                    4x4GB = 16GB.

                      I just bought one of these http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...y#BVRRWidgetID,
                      Yeah, it's a Dell, and it's got a cheap video card, but the price was right and the 8300 I'm on right now is 8-10 years old, and due for a rest.

                        After looking I kinda like This One. I could just pull and upgrade the video card and pretty much have what I need. Just another idea.

                          That is nice! I might buy myself another desktop and give this one to my siblings.

                            You'll have to upgrade the power supply too, and I doubt that case will hold a full size video card. I'd have a look inside before purchasing it just to make sure it has room for the video card you want.

                                Well the PCI-E x16 slot is the one your video card will use. They never tell you the case dimensions though. That case looks to be the same size as the eMachines I used to have so it should be able to hold a card the size of the GTX 460/560. As for a power supply I'd go with something like the Antec HCG-900. It is a rock solid power supply.
