Are you sure it's the correct drivers for the wireless card?

Everything I've been reading so far on the internet where it say's it point's to a public and won't let you change networks is because of a driver issue.

it does indeed sound like a driver issue..but lets say its not...have you tried resetting your router? I mean using the reset button you have to use a pen to push (it will kick the router into default settings and you will have to reconfigure)

You have a weird issue my friend..kinda hard to diagnose over the internet.

I had a similar (I think) problem on my HP Win-XP laptop. It would not connect no matter what, out of the blue too. Stupid thing. I went and changed the wireless password and encryption type and all has been well. I don't know why I had to do that, but it fixed it.

2 hours on the phone with tech support and the issues is now resolved. I had to turn off the router while on the phone. Deleted some drivers and reinstalled them and had to reset or get new IP address. < Have no clue what that's about. Very long process but fixed now. Then start up modem/ router combo back up. The signal catches in less than a minute and is finally set to home and able to change location. They also did all these damn commands in the command window etc.... < no idea about that either.

Sounds like your wireless network was set as a public network. Windows firewall was probably blocking it. Good to hear you got it fixed.
