    and.. I'm out. Just uninstalled.

    Final thoughts:

The game is very good. There are some bugs, but they are hammering them out nicely. If anyone had played WoW at launch they would attest to SWTOR being pretty clear for a new MMO. I am out for the same reason I am not playing any other MMO, time. I just can't invest into it like I would want to. If I was unemployed/disabled I would be all over this. But, I am not. So I bid SWTOR a fond farewell. So long, and thanks for all the sith.

First had problems installing, then the game ran fine. Then about two weeks ago the game won't play without dropping to unplayable FPS. Got another bug where whenever I talk to an NPC the world gets locked in the place everything was during the cutscene - if like Imperial troopers appear during the cutscene, they look like they're stuck where they were but they have sounds like they are running around and firing. I can move the camera and it makes sounds of footsteps like I'm moving but I can't interact with anything.

This happens with every character interaction, plus a huge drop in FPS with any sort of action. Game is unplayable for me, and I wish I didn't sub for 3 months.

Couldn't agree more! For an MMORPG it really gives you a great single player feeling, then you realize your surrounded by hundreds of other players and its like "Oh excuse me"... I actually bought a new computer just for this game... Trying to run it on an old PENT D and 2 gigs of ram wasn't cutting it... Loving the PVP and Storylines for each class. The depth for the stories really sucks me in A LOT more then the normal MMO grind for levels and gear...

I'm actually writing an article about the "new player" experience for SWTOR and where "mmo veterans" will feel how the game doesn't bring much new to the genre.

In a nutshell - the game is not really so much an MMO - but an expansive exercise in a "social" world coupled to a largely single player game with coop mode in mind, but offering some player verses player.

its a whole new animal but it's not immediately obvious. For better and for worse..... /teaser lol more coming soon

how is the play experience any different then any other recent MMO? There is content you can solo, contect you an group, group instaces/dungeons. its all the same hat man its just wrapped in Star Wars. Oh, and was by far the smoothest and best MMO launch in the history of MMOs.

distilled down - yes. It's actually leaning on many, many things learned up to now in the mmo genre. The thing is - bioware did such an amazing job of combining all these small things that most people take them for granted and brush them off as "x has done this before"

I'm not in league with them at all - but the game is not WoW. Its not EQ or DAOC either. Its Not AOC, its not Lineage(1 or 2) and its not Eve.

but it borrows from all and expands / contracts there in as well as draws on a wealth of single player experience.

I like the game for what it is : really fun Co-op.

funny you should say that, just last night i was thinking, "okay, its starting to get boring".

and i started up Skyrim again. That's probably a bad sign.

And you know what it is, and i am a little ashamed to admit it, but its just not well polished. Of course my yardstick for comparison is WoW, which is 7 years old and has a working budget in the millions - but thems the brakes.

i even reinstalled wow, and paid for one month just so i could do some serious side by side comparison.

the story for my Sith Warrior was fantastic. i really enjoyed it. the bugs at 50 though make the game less enjoyable. so i thought i would make another character or two just for the story, but i feel far less engaged the second time around for some reason. cant put my finger on it yet.

i already paid for this month though, and they seem to be releasing bug fixes and content pretty regularly already which is a huge plus. but honestly the only thing i enjoy in MMOs is the battlegrounds/wz's and their rated counterparts. and as it stands right now, that flame is starting to peter out. maybe if they redo ilum and that is loads of fun i might stay longer but the endgame pve is and always will be totally meh for me. repeating the same scripted content trying to beat the computer better has no value to me whatsoever.

Yea this topic has come up many times no with friends and what not about whether or not the game is "worth" it. I was on the fence at first, but have grown to really enjoy the game. It kills me to hear so many people compare it to WOW... I played WOW when it was first released and by far it was a lot worse then SWTOR... At 60 there was almost nothing to do and the only PVP was world based with no rewards at all. We killed time exploring, gold farming, raiding cities, ganking and running the few dungeons we could...

It really seems like this new generation of MMO gamers is very demanding and doesn't have as much of an interest in entertaining themselves while waiting for new content. Everyone expects the game to be polished and finished like WOW.... I bought a new PC just to play the game and have a bunch of friends and family into it now, so we're in it for the long haul, but I'm stumped at some of the attitudes and soap boxes I've read on SWTOR community forum..

I sadly can't bring myself back to WOW, it isn't the game I originally fell in love with... All people do now is sit in cities and que for Dungeons or BG's... The open world pvp and ganking is almost non-existent...
