Android or iPhone?

GPS has been working just fine on mine for over a year, since I rooted it, and installed 2.2.

It still gives an incorrect fix with the latest official firmware. I'm not sure if that is the fault of AT&T or Samsung. I'll have to see about putting Cyanogen on my friends and see if that fixes the issue for him.

No one in I.T. (including myself) has an iPhone. One of the technicians had an iPhone for a short period of time - he's now a happy Android user. Our manager had nothing but problems with his Samsung Captivate (Galaxy) Android phone. I, on the other hand, have had the exact same phone since August 2010, and haven't had any major issues with it.

I had a Droid2 for a little over a year, I exchanged it around 10 times. I originally started off with a R2D2 Droid but the damn thing would lock up about ever 3rd day. I reset it, tried everything, they eventually offered me a new upgrade w/2yr activation etc so I just bought a Iphone4s. the funny part though, they offered to send me out a new Droid2 since it was going to be around a month until the Iphone was available so he set up the new exchange and they where out of Droid2's so they sent me out a brand new Droid3

Ill let you know how I like the Iphone after using a droid for a little over a year.

Having used both, I'd have to say it simply comes down to personal preference. At my work we have both Android & iPhone users connected to our Exchange server. Both have had their fair share of problems.

I have 3 e-mail accounts linked to my Android phone - Exchange, Yahoo, and Gmail. Yahoo is the only one I have trouble with because it's app is so buggy and slow.

As far as durability, even after 16 months of abuse and once running over my phone with my car, it still works flawlessly, and the screen doesn't have a single imperfection.

Apple makes a good product...but it has it's limitations. And having these limitations in place is probably one of the main reasons why it's as reliable as it is. If you're OK with it's limitations (or don't even realize what they are), then by all means get one, and be happy with it.

I will say that the area in which the iPhone absolutely shines is it's aftermarket. There are so many attachments, holsters, clips, peripherals, etc. For instance, if you wanted to turn your phone into a cycling computer with a heart-rate monitor, there's stuff out there to do just that.

I don't have any other apple products because I think they are overpriced. I hate to admit it but apple can make a solid phone. Droids are good phones as well. Personally, if you're going to be stuck with a phone for 2 years I would go down to a store and play with a few. Out of the droids ATT carries there are only 2-3 I would pick anyway.

Coming from a non-power user and non-computer geek perspective, I think they're both relatively the same. I have a TMobile G2x Android now and it locks up about 2-3 times a week so I usually end up rebooting it. And I use less than 5 Apps and don't play games on it. Before this, I had 2 iPhones with bad hardware problems. One overheated which kept shorting out the processor and eventually the screen separated from the unit. The other had the vibration mode stick so it would vibrate anytime you handled it. I also had to reboot once a week since it kept freezing.

mine never freezes, maybe 2% time, i have to close a free app? my ipad2 freezes, so i really think its not my hardware

Strange, my Android devices never freeze.

its not working like a normal andriod device then.

Personally I would say iPhone. I've had plenty of Force Closures on Android. Battery isn't great on most android devices, unless you turn everything useful off... Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth and lower the Brightness. I've owned the iPhone before (iPhone 3G) and that thing lasted over 29 hours while being used... Generous Web Browsing, Texting Constantly, Google Maps, and maybe a total of 80 minutes of calling. If battery life was better on Android, I'd easily vote for Android. I personally hate having to carrying my Cellphone Charger around. If I owned a car, I probably wouldn't mind as much because I'd just use a Car Charger. Good luck on your search! P.S. I've owned many blackberries and I've loved them (except the trackball issues).

Android = Rooting

Jailbreaking allows you to perform modifications and/or install apps that weren't available in the App Store.

Rooting allows you to use an app such as Root Explorer to perform manual modifications to the system. Similar to Linux Root (its essentially Administrator Access on your phone). Some apps in the Android Market require Root. Certain Wifi Tethering Apps require root, Root Explorer requires root

Androids are great if you're the type of person that enjoys having your phone freeze a lot.
If you're one of those people that likes things that work, go with an iPhone.

I have the motorola Droid x2 and it works for me.Phone is old school now with the new Droid Razr and Galaxy S .I am not a fan of Apple's operating system or the glass screen that is easily broken if dropped.The hardware is beautiful on the idrone.Some of my co- workers, brother and daughter have the iphone and love it .Motorola and android are a-ok for me.

I dunno about the camera aspect. My droid has 32 g sd card 8 mp camera. 24000 pics 24 hrs of video I think the ones after mine have hd video out also
