Anyway I can escape from the clutches of COX cable?

Cable companies are monopolies. My bill for basic TV and internet cable access is $111.00 a month. My mortage payment is $0.00, as are my car payments!!

Is there any alternative for me for Cable? I don't think Fios is in my area (Laguna Niguel).

I called Cox today to try to add the fox soccer channel..and all they wanted was another $75.00 a month.....

There has to be an alternative.

DirecTV? Buy through Costco to save $$? Do you want extended channels, or can you get by with just the basic networks? I used to live in Riverside and could pick up HDTV for all basic networks with just a regular antenna...heck with just rabbit ears. Now in the OC, I can't pick up ANY stations over the air, even with big roof-mounted antennas, so I'm stuck in the Cox club too...

2 options, DirectTV or do what I did and cancel TV entirely.

I finally added up the cost of buying each episode of every show I watch from iTunes and Amazon, and came up with $$550 a year, as opposed to $1200 a year for TV service.

For the Highspeed internet, it depends on what's in your area.

cox is the only game in town. I hear the att dls is really worse than dial up with a modem from 1985

Agree with Robcoe. Give it up and liberate yourself from the mindless prison called TV. Hundreds of channels with no redeeming value. I now read more and spend time working on my socialization skills. As a benefit, whatever money you saved can go toward your gun hobby!

I don't really watch tv. I do like to watch soccer played at a high level.

I want to find a different alternative to COX for my Internet service. I'm canceling the cable TV Monday but they still rape u &60.00 a month for Internet service. That's crazy. Their cost is around $4.00 per month.

It's great biz if ur a monopoly. That's why they can raise rates beyond the rate of inflation. They have no competitor other than consumer backlash.

I was even contemplating tethering a verizon phone to my router, but the upload size is severly limited and I transfer cad files.

Cox really hammers you. They have increased the pricing 70% in the last five years...have their costs gone up so greatly?

I cannot wait for fios to show up, but that could be 20 years from now. Satellite internet is an option, but a very slow one.

I am stuck with cox too. It would be nice if we could get fios around here. I don't know wtf they're doing but their dns keeps going down late at night. If you are having problems with their dns you can switch to googles. google "google public dns"

We canceled our Cox TV, but kept internet and phone. Bill is $100/mo- which used to be our bill for all three.

Add me to the list of wanting to find a cheaper alternative for internet.

Cox is finding out that they are losing their market and income on cable services, that's why they are "suggesting" what average households consume in bandwidth. They have come to realize that they are only an ISP again. Nobody gives a flying rip about their hundreds of channels of worthless crap.

I went from 200+ to $25 a month by cancelling Cox phone, cable, all the movie channels and all of the TV, taking the lowest internet service (which they intentionally cripple to provide extra levels of service)

As far as I'm concerned, they can rot in hell. They exist in a regulated monopoly and they offer inferior selection. The very few shows I actually care about are available elsewhere such as hulu or netflix or any of other alternatives. FU cox, stopped paying those huge bills about a year ago and it's 2,000 more in my pocket and never knew you were gone.
