The owner at work loves them. We moved our Service Reps onto these. They are a pain in the a** to lock down since their tool sucks and we're constantly trying to keep the reps from trying to play with them. We've got about 15 iPad AT&T 1st Gen, and 50 iPad 2 Verizon.

Not the best thing to use for commercial applications, but I can see some use out of them at home.

      Innovative, absolutely.

      Overpriced and overrated. Yup, absolutely.

You wouldn't say that if you had a nice, shiny Lenovo X200T.

I bought the iPad and I remember I thought I would be more cool and metro, but I ended up thinking that I looked like a little retarded wannabe sitting at starbucks reading news on it.

Guess I just prefer to spill my coffee on the news paper like a real man.

Replacing a laptop with a tablet is not a question of what manufacturer's laptop (or tablet) you have. It's more of what you are carrying a mobile device for.

I stopped carrying my laptop to/from the office is simply because all the stuff I was doing on my laptop away from my office were things that didn't *need* a laptop, but needed a bit more screen real-estate than a smartphone. Thus, the tablet has become a laptop replacement for me as far as mobile computing is concerned.

The only reason I would actually carry/travel with a laptop away from the office now is if I had full intent of doing full fledged work (e.g. enterprise development, photo editing, etc).
