I must concur. I've viewed a disturbing amount of porn and I haven't had a virus get out of control... yet.

Google 'av comparitives' and wade through their testing. MSE doesn't score so good. Like was said above, Eset or Kasperski.

Personnaly, I use Eset Smart Security suite and the paid versions of Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware along with the free Spybot S&D.

Keep in mind, NONE of the products tested caught everything. You need multiple layers of security to lower your risk profile significantly. Take and old computer tower and install Untangle on it to use as a border security appliance. It will stop 90 or more % of the crap before it can enter your environment. Repel the invading hordes at the castle walls rather than trying to fight them room to room.

                  .

+1, I like it because it's not much of a resource drain and is very effective. They have a 30 day trial so you can see how little of your computer's resources it uses. But after the 30 days there is an annual subscription fee.

                      +1 for Avast Free.

Have used it for a good 3 years, never any problems, so I purchased a license for it.
