    Which Anti-Virus Software ?

What is a good Anti-Virus software that actually works ?
My Bitdefender expires in 4 days.
I don't want to renew it, it is to resource intensive.

I've heard really good things about Microsoft Security Essentials; bonus - it's free (probably what I'll switch to after my current AV subscription expires).

Currently I'm using ESET NOD32; works great for me with minimal system performance hit, but requires a yearly subscription.

The free version of Avast Antivirus is good. All you have to do is renew the free version once a year.

Maximum PC did a comparison a few months back... I don't remember who came out on top, you'll have to go find it. I agree with the above... surprisingly, MS's AV stuff is not too bad.

I would not recommend Avast. I had that on one of my wife's computers and I don't know what she clicked on but she got nailed by a virus and Avast was just chugging along happily, completely oblivious as her desktop went black, half the programs didn't work, etc etc.

For best security, Kaperspy or Nod32. Performance wise, Nod32 is one of the lightest out there.

                First real response: ESET Nod32

you can get it for free if you visit nod321.cn and use the keys.

I use Nod32 for antivirus and Comodo for Firewall on my win 7

Nod32 and Kaspersky, both great products.

My servers / workstation get NOD32, and laptops get Kaspersky since their internet security product is better than Eset.

MS Av stuff is also very good, if you want to save money.

                          Microsoft Security Essentials:

Make a smooth transition to Windows 11 from your unsupported operating system with help from Microsoft. Enjoy the benefits of upgrading to a Windows 11 PC.

                          Works great...
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
                          Come on...what harm??

                              I went with this.
Just before I removed Bit Defender, I ran a full scan.
It detected a Java exploit, however it would do nothing about it.
I just ran a full scan with MSE and it found the same issue and removed it
Also my system is running faster
