In bfbc2 you could add a smoke grenade attachment to your AR. Is that not in BF3?

Yeah, I remember it from BC2. If it is available in BF3, then I've not seen anyone use it.

The mortar that the Support class unlocks has the option of launching HE rounds or smoke rounds, which may be as close as you get.

To be honest, I'm rarely alive long enough to benefit from smoke, and it's instantly negated with thermal sights anyway.

So how does the Battlelog thing work? Should I be able to see everyone when they're on or do I have to add people? I'm assuming it will alert me when others are on and allow me to join the group? I'm clueless with this stuff.

You have to add people to your friends on Battlelog to be able to see all their stats and the likes, I think. You can see their online status by the color of the box around their avatar - blue is playing but not on Battlelog, green is on battlelog (maybe playing) and grey is offline.

You have to add people to your xbox friends list if you want to join up in a squad with them.

Smoke is awesome even with the thermal lenses. If a wall is knocked out boom throw out smoke. Snipers ****ing you up? Smoke his or your own area. Annoying *** tank? Light it up with smokes.

Holy Carp! Ran into that mortar for the first time last night. Haven't played much so I guess there is a lot I haven't seen. But the mortar.....Fuuuuuuuuudge.

How do the mortar guys know where to shoot? It seems like they're always zeroed in.

Also, I got an "EOD M4" last night. It's just a 3-round burst M4, but it seems like it's easier to use, especially with the EOtech on there.

Dunno Deuces, I was kinda wondering that myself. I was sniping at the time so I figured another sniper spotted me and that's the mortar guy was targeting. I'll go check the BF3 forum and see if there is any info there.

I thought it was interesting in one game last night when I couldn't kill a guy who was hiding behind a car with rounds from a tank, but when I hopped out to shoot him, he shot me through the car with his rifle I guess the game isn't exactly perfect, but it's still a lot of fun.

How does one earn the mortar?

Didn't see the vid yet but your info sounds about right from what I have read. You have get a mess of points in the support class. Guess I may have to back off my engineer and get my support class up. Mortar has unlimited ammo. How long can that last?

FYI, when you start using the mortar you show up on the map too.

The mortar really isn't all that effective. It's only worth your time when the enemy is always bunched up at choke points. Think Grand Bazaar's main corridor.
