I say take it to a Verizon store. There are some great Android phones out there and there are some real pieces of crap (read: Motorola). I'm on my 3rd Droid 1 and my buddy is on his 4th Droid X. My GF's Droid X also suffers from the issues you describe. I'm convinced that Motorola does not know how to build a bug-free Android device. Everybody I talk to with HTC and Samsung Android phones seems happy.

I'm beyond done with Motorola, and am waiting on the new Droid Prime to upgrade in November.

That's funny because I hear the opposite. I would venture to say, if you had the HTC or Samsung, you'd probably be having the same problems you do now with the Motorola. Devices don't vary much, but people tend to fall into the same patterns and behaviors. Perhaps you haven't been properly educated on droid phones and the app market. See my other post....

Just got a replacement Droid X cuz the audio output went bad. I think i'm gonna get the iphone next upgrade

Thanks for jumping to your stupid assumption that I don't know anything about my phone. I've been with Android since late 2009 when the first major device came out. I've gone through all the hacking, tinkering, tweaking, ROMing, overclocking, you name it. From leaving it bone stock to hacked, it's always the same. And FYI my phone hardly has any apps on it now, most are just essential apps I use everyday. I just don't think apps are the problem.

From what you just said, you haven't. Otherwise you wouldn't be trying to do everything yourself and remain unsuccessful. Are you an IT major? Overclocking!!? Sounds like you caused all the problems yourself. Congratulations, you hacked the #$%@ out of your device and now you're left with damaged goods. My stand remains the same. People don't change their habits and behaviors....and thank you for volunteering as the perfect example.

Please, give me a break. Since you obviously are so smart and MUST be an Android developer, tell us what is the problem. And don't blame it on the apps. I'm not really sure what your stance is. Are you not supposed to install any apps? Or are you the 'zomG you need task killers'-type? Or should we just switch to iOS?

I have to agree, manufacturer makes a difference. I've had Samsung and Motorola android phones.

Started with the original Motorola Droid, then "upgraded" to a Samsung Galaxy S.

Samsung came loaded with bloatware, pay services that you could not uninstall, and the internal OS search was Microsoft Bing. lol. Voice recognition hardly ever worked and normal searching was pretty bad too. I had a laundry list of issues, including the notifications not clearing when you pressed clear.

I went to a Droid X after a few months. Samsung makes great TVs and appliances, but they need to get out of the phone business.

I haven't experienced the issues mentioned here.

Are you saying you're on stock factory rom? O.o
Since you're thinking about doing a wipe and clean install anyways, I'd suggest you go custom roms.Just go spend some time on xda and learn how to flash a custom rom (I heard the Liberty rom is pretty good), Moto stock roms usually come with too much bloatware and poor-performing blur add-ons.

I have the x and am experiencing the random restarts and ultra slow texting that you guys are talking about. I really liked this phone until I got the latest updates.

FYI - I don't think this is a factory wipe repairable problem. I've wiped the wife's phone twice, Verizon store did it once. No change.

This is what happened to mine, and they warrantied it out. Mine actually reassigned the hard keys and I was only able to do things from the touch screen. Got my new one and waiting to hear about the Droid X3.

Anyone else just get the OTA update? 4.****** something? I hope this fixes the issues.

There must be something wrong with the latest update. I have also started to experience the same issues.
