    IPHONE question

When I am at my house my Iphone connects to my internet, but does it to make calls. I'm thinking no.
Is there a setting that would allow me to do that.
I know already I can download an app which would allow me to use a voip but it would be a whole new phone not encompassing my contacts, or my phone number.

    Thank you for your input

Skype would do that and can go to your contacts.

If your signal as poor at home, and I assume that's why you're asking, call ATT and ***** them out until they give you a free micro-cell.

Plugs right into your internet setup, works like a champ.

This is what Noxx is referring to:

It is a mini-3G cell site that connects via the internet, so you can basically have seamless VOIP with your regular AT&T service on your iPhone.

I am a long time and heavy AT&T user and they sent me one when they first started rolling them out. I know two people who did what Noxx suggested and AT&T would not send them one for free. I think it may be too late for that.

I have poor cell reception at home, the Microcell usually works pretty well but it does have hiccups. Sometimes I have to reboot it, and sometimes it causes medium to long delays when placing calls. It also doesn't always handle the transitions between OTA and Microcell perfectly.

If you are talking about internet usage amounts in terms of your phone bill, if you are on wifi at your house then no.

In terms of cellular phone calls, yes, that always goes through the phone carrier and they are charged against your billing.

If you got some VIOP program like Skype and you made calls that way and you used your wifi internet, then no, you would not be doing anything counted towards usage on your phone bill.
