The risks are very limited so long as you don't mess with voltages and even then, if you're being careful, it's not a very risky operation.

Running an old Alienware I bought back in '05 and a netbook for my current travels. I'll build a new machine next Spring, probably gonna follow the specs from Tom's Hardware system builder marathons on the enthusiast or performance level.

I'm sure a 460 will play it. The 470 card I have has been giving me issues because a friend of mine baked it before letting me have it. That and I want to be able to play BF3 on full settings.

Just upgraded from a QX6700 yesterday to:

                            CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K @ 3.3ghz
                            Mem: 16gb DDR3 1333
                            GPU: nVidia GTX 460 768mb
HDD: Adata S599 60gb SSD and Corsair 60gb SSD
                            Case: Corsair Graphite
                            Mobo: Gigabyte Z68
                            Cooling: Corsair H70 Liquid Setup

Best machine I've ever used, hands down. I've built over 30 custom machines for people, and this is my first Sandy Bridge build. I am floored with the power that the i5 pumps out in comparison to my Core 2 Quad Extreme that I replaced yesterday.

Sandy bridge i7 laptop (ASUS G73) and sandy bridge i5 2500k desktop with an old GTX260. Got a Phenom X4 machine for a DAW and an old Opteron machine for a MAME box. Plus a few other computers sitting around for servers or testing or whatever.

I bought a refurbished dell inspiron 570 tower this time last year.

                                - 2.8ghz AMD Athlon II x4 quadcore
                                - 6gb ddr3 ram
                                - 500 watt psu (upgraded)
                                - Power Color Ati Radeon HD5770 GPU
                                - 1tb Samsumg HDD
                                - 22" Envision Lcd Monitor

I salvaged the PSU from my last build and bought the GPU for $120 shipped. I spent $350 for the computer. So far its been a great computer and i use it everyday for atleast 3 hours. If it died, id get another in a heartbeat. Now a days it doesn't seem to make sense to build your own.
