Oh yeah? Wait till you see what I'm running.

Ibuypower system (dumbest name ever but great prices)
      AMD 64 X2 5600+
      4 Gig mem
      Geforce 8800 GTS
      DVD RW
      2x 500GB HDD

Viewing on Dual 24" Dell LCD's.

I know impressive right You should see the specs on my iPad.

I gave up most PC gaming years ago so I don't upgrade nearly as much as I use to. As to IBuyPower. Dumbest name ever and everyone there are complete tools but you can not buy the parts separately for the price that I get a pre built system with OS.

As to cooling. Liquid cooling is only really for people who overclock. Just don't skimp on a good case with good flow. Be serious about cable management. And bigger fans with slower speed are 2x as good as small fans that run faster.

id like to overclock, but im unsure of the risks and i dont have the know how.

my case is pretty old, thermaltake xaser II, probably needs a better fan set up. maybe a new case will be my next purchase after ram.

i also got a great deal on my computer, ive upgraded it since i bought it, the only thing that came with it thats still there is the case, mobo, and cpu, but i paid $350 for a full working computer, ive just had to upgrade gpu, bluray player, gpu, hard drives, and power supply.

I just moved back from Europe and a family member is going to be shipping my computer back to me. It's been a long wait! I'll have it back within a month.
In the meantime, I'm using my MacBook Pro 13" 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.

So far as cooling go, I recommend two things:
            - a big heatsink: I got a Xigmatek and they are fantastic, I saw temperatures plunge when I installed it. They are also considerably quieter than the OEM heatsinks.
            - creating a flow of air within your case. You want the front fans to be intakes. If you have a side panel fan, you also want that to be an intake fan. The fans at the top and at on the rear panel should be extrating air from the case. Remember that hot air rises, so any fan at the top should extract air.
            - cable management: the pic was before I did clean up my case and I saw temps drop after getting my cables out of the way

Overclocking is easy and fun if you have a good motherboard and a good cooling system, you don't need liquid cooling unless you're doing some hardcore OC'ing. You will see improvements in performance, even with a small overclock.
The risks are very limited so long as you don't mess with voltages and even then, if you're being careful, it's not a very risky operation.

I get all my information here: http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/ Good forum, good community, very much like Calguns

HP Media PC 8200N (got it on clearance! was a steal at the time)
Upgraded to 4 GB of ram,
                      Upgraded Power Supply,
                      1x 500GB drive 1x 100GB drive both Sata.
TV Card with IR remote (works under linux!)
Some no-name version of an NVIDIA GForce 9300GE out of a dell box. my nice card fried a year ago now.
                      Mediaubuntu 11.04
                      Wacom for input.
Fancy Lighted Logitech Keyboard with broken keys.
6 blown caps (leaking completely) on the VRM, how this computer operates still is a mystery to me. Power will cut out randomly.

Time for a new machine but since I do heavy lifting (not gaming) on my computer I need something with as much ram and cores as possible and my budget consists of two dimes and a wooden nickel so I just limp along...
...but their exists also in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to attempt to lower the powerful to their own level, and reduces men to prefer equality in slavery to inequality with freedom.

Same same. I was in a competition gaming team/clan for a number of years. Played vCoD, CoDUO, CoD2, and CoD4 in competition. Then I burned out on it and quit. I was building new boxes about every three or four months trying to always have the fastest box. I haven't upgraded since I quit. Box I'm on now is over 2 years old (still runs great for surfing.) Plan on getting a laptop when it dies as I don't ever see myself gaming again.
