      SSD's

SSD's are expensive but they are worth it. My computer is pretty much (almost) top of the line for home use, thing is fast will never use non SSD's for my windows drive ever!

That's ubuntu booting , about 8 or 9 seconds after bios..

      Win7 about 20 something...

Unlike your RAID setup an SSD can read many programs at once. This greatly improves read speeds and there is virtually no seek time. When I login to Windows all my programs load in a matter of seconds and the system is responsive while they load. You also do not have to worry about the drive getting fragmented over time, in fact you never defrag an SSD. Current Sandforce based SSD drives can read/write at over 500MB/sec, put two in a RAID setup and you'll be able to read/write at over 1TB/sec.

Yep, I was thinking about RAIDing two SSD's

Now that I've been using a SSD for my OS drive for some time, I'm never going back. It's night and day.

Keep in mind these are older drives.
