I just ordered a Transformer myself on Saturday. Haven't gotten it yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

I will pick up either an Asus Espresso or Samsung Galaxy by end of the month. Any pros/cons to either one from folks who have them?

Looking forward to surfing CG.net from the pot.

So I've had my Asus Transformer for a few days now. After playing with it for a bit I'm really impressed by the speed and power of the device and it's easy to use. The tight integration with other Google products is nice, the Gmail app on it is especially well-done. Web browsing is almost analogous to the desktop. Flash plays well. Flash live feed from CNN played fine over wifi.

Overall, I have no complaints about this device, but I'm likely going to sell it. Why? I've realized I just don't need a tablet. It'll end up gathering dust while I work on my laptop.

Im waiting for the next gen Transformer. It's going to have the Invidia "Kah-El" chip which outperforms the Intel Core Duo chips, pretty amazing for a tablet. Plus it can output higher res video then 1080p (IIRC it's 1440p) to a 30" screen and is going to be amazing. The new chip is supposed to be in tablets by November/December

I listed my Transformer in the Non-Firearm Sales section if anyone is interested. Great tab, I just don't use it.

I played around with my friend's new HP Touchpad over the weekend... Wow, the HP WebOS really, really sucks and got annoying after 5 minutes. Mainly, the touch sensitivity was spotty and not responsive. The browser was pretty slow, clicking/scrolling was a royal pain. Do not get one of these.

Yeah, I just don't understand why HP thought it was a great idea to go with WebOS. Yeah, I know they bought palm and unfortunately that's what came with the acquisition, but you would think SOMEONE smart enough in their tablet division would say "Guys, Android. Seriously.".

The Blackberry playbook will probably survive pretty strongly just because of the classic corporate Blackberry culture (also, they're promising Android compatibility in the future), but HP just made a plain stupid decision.

There are really only two contenders in the tablet arena:

                1.) Apple with iOS
                2.) Anyone with Android

Personally, I'm an Android guy. But going with anything other than Android or iOS is going to end up in pain and suffering as you watch the support whither away.

I was browsing at Costco today while getting our tires changed.

I dig the i5 Slate tablet. It runs a proper OS, fully upgradable, and can actually Create content, not just Consume content. The downside is the price - if you're not able to take full advantage of it, you're spending too much $$ for a fad like I did. That's why I'm selling it.

HP kills the Touchpad. That didn't take long at all.

I hate macs, my wife loves them but I have never taken to that OS. That being said, the iOS used on the iPad (and iTouch and iPhones and iDontknowwhatelse) rocks.

I have used pda's for almost 30 years and I was an early adopter for android, hell I have two android phones, but... The iPad is the best tablet out there.

Now that Asus transformer is VERY nice. A budy of mine has one and I can not get over the build quality! It's simply amazing.

If you decide to go that route Target has the tablet part on sale for $400 but you get a $100 gift card with purchase. If you go with the iPad I suggest getting one that is factory refurbished.

Either way you will have a blast.
