So secure that the government isn't using em.
The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

I checked with my mill and lathe. They both agree: that's a load of crap, and they assure me that I can own any screwdriver that I can turn the dials to make.

Well sure, anyone can do that, doesn't mean you're not in violation of a patent though.

Heard this a long time ago:

If Apple ran the world, we would be running 500 GHZ machines that cost $4000..........

If MS ran the world, we would still be typing c:/ to get started in the morning.

The competition has been the best thing since aviation in WW2.

Mac was based off BSD code, but I am not sure what is at its core anymore. They make robust hardware with a decent software suite, but it is not perfect by any means of the word.

Unix/Linux and Windows pretty much share the server market equally. Additionally, while Mac OS X server exists, there are serious problems with scaling any Mac based network. Trust me, I know from first hand experience.

I am in now way condoning MAC's as servers. I was merely commenting on the more historical purpose of each OS. Bill Gates never even imagined a networked world with high powered pc's, which is why windows was so susceptible in the beginning. *nix was designed as a networked machine from the start(hence the better security features). of course all are prone to attack, and all have security holes when not properly patched/updated.

but, Mac processes are inherently more secure because the Mac OS is UNIX (not based on Unix, but as of Leopard - Certified Unix). (Note : I didn't say Macs are more secure. See first sentence - depends on the user)

An extremely simplistic difference between Unix and Windows is that in Unix, processes run in their own space (and so there's no cross-contamination) whereas in Windows, its all in the same space so it is easier for a virus to be a virus.

Neither did Steve Jobs. The first time he ever saw a networked computer or a GUI was at Xerox Parc. And he pretty my stole it all from them.

Did anyone read the article in the OP? These idiots INSTALLED the software on their computers! The security with a Mac comes from the lack of full root access. The second you approve the installation and type in the root password, you've opened up the door to anything and everything. Congratulations, nothing has changed!
