    *Web Hosting/ Web page Questions*

Who has the best prices and best templates for building a web page? I need to build a web site, but my skill level is low and so are my funds.

I've heard good things about these guys.

Oppressors can tyrannize only when they achieve a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace. -- James Madison

The Constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms. -- Samuel Adams, Debates and Proceedings in the Convention of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 86-87 (Pearce and Hale, eds., Boston, 1850)

GoDaddy and others can get you a domain name and hosting fairly cheap. Your ISP may have a deal on an easy site (like comcast).
Amazon Web Services will host in cloud, as will Azure.

Static or dynamic pages? Does it need to be pretty/business/???

I'm looking to go fairly basic. Company info, contact links, eventually a web store. I looked at GoDaddy, Does the basic package sound like it maybe the ticket??

          Here:GoDaddy Economy Package

If you can't tell I'm not too savvy with website building.

          Thanks!

If its possible you can piggy off my godaddy grid hosting for a buck a month
I think I have the deluxe grid hosting. It's kinda slow & i think I have to register it under my account...not sure.

joomla? for building...i have no idea what joomla is

GoDaddy's webhosting is not very good. Domain.com has a free trial, I'd check them out.

This one lets you make a full featured site.

I use blue host for hosting small sites.

                  Cheap and easy.

hmmm.... I have 10-15 clients with GoDaddy and find their hosting just fine at all levels.

Anyway, they have template building software (dont know how good it is as I am not a template type user), are very affordable, have a good help/forum section, have been around and are established (not fly-by-night).

You need to select a provider that offers ecommerce, storefront, etc.
That way you don't need to move the website later.
Amazon has a storefront, domain .com has ecommerce, etc.
That back end processing totake credit cards and payment is harder than just hosting a web site. Will you be shipping the items, or will someone else be filling the orders?

I've heard a lot of complaints about them. Maybe they've changed.

I currently have a merchant service to accept CC and I accept Paypal (discreetly ) I would love to have someone else filling our orders, but I think it's just gonna be me.

For now I just need to build a basic site that has contact info, etc. so people don't hit a brick wall when they type in WWW.SANTACRUZARMORY.COM I aleady own the domain. I just want to keep it easy and reasonably priced to add on to the site the future.

                            Thanks for the info guys!

Taking credit card information at a web site requires more security and processing than a FTF transaction.
But the page that you have at GoDaddy is a start.
You can rough out a draft in Word, or several other languages. Your home page has most of the common tabs, just look at it from the point of what would a customer visiting your site wnt to do?
                              know what products you offer
                              what services you offer
                              search for more information
contact you for details, or questions. Form requiring info not maybe the best choice.
FAQ - will help drive visitors from search engines.

                              Good luck!
