Lots of options already mentioned. If you do nothing else, pull the plug/kill switch when you are not using it.

Holy exaggerators in this thread. Its not a big deal, you can check to see whose connected by just going to 192.168.1.1 or whatever the standard is for your modem and just looking at connected devices.

How do you know its in use when you dont even know how to check whose connected? Might just be peak use period and its lagging from the ISP

unless you're downloading by 10+gig's a day, no one cares, even the ISP that you are doing it. And if you really knew what you were doing you don't need to steal some random persons wireless to get stuff.

they're like $20 and last for 3+ years. Some ISP's even give you a free one if you call them...

The bullets with my name on it I'm not worried about, it's the "To whom it may concern" ones I'm worried about.

Not running a password on wifi=horrible idea. You can wreak all sorts of havoc on an unsecured wireless network.

They aren't stealing your wireless internet, you are letting them use it. It is 100% your fault and your responsibility to secure your own network.

You shouldn't run WEP anyways, using WEP is like using nothing at all. WPA2-AES is the way to go.

Best router on the market today. I bought one a few weeks ago. Its been amazing and my download speed doubled since I installed it.

Linksys, Netgear, D-link, Buffalo, The list goes on and on. First two are better in my opinion.

                          ???

Honestly though, this makes no sense.

I used to know someone who would go in and set up a WEP on an unsecured wireless system without the owner knowing... until they couldn't get online.

Your router may just be happily blinking away with no one on your wifi, mine does that all the time.

I used to have an extra router live and not connected to anything. I did that the first day I saw the chalk on my sidewalk indicating unsecured wifi. Encrypted my system and gave them something to waste their time on.
With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.

D-link customer support is trash, they are based out of India and don't know their head from their a55. I refuse to do business with them ever again and will keep promoting how bad they are

                              Linksys is top notch

I used to use Linksys all the time. I currently have a Netgear Gigabit N router.

I haven't called any tech support in years, but the last time I did, it was Linksys, and I couldn't understand the people. I then started to use the online chat function, way easier to read what they type than to listen to what they say. Plus, they would email me the transcript from the session so I could refer to it later.
