Must be under $150. Thanks guys....

For something now, I've found skullcandy earbuds to be great. I'm using a pair of ulitmate ears now and they're even better

SkullCandy is blugh.... UE is decent. Are the earphones/headphones for your computer or audio system? Perhaps you may want to think about full sized, circumaural cans? Are you going to be running the phones through an amp too?

Check out Shure earphones. I have a set and am really happy with them.

If you're looking for great bass, look for some closed, circumaural headphones. The open headphones have a wider soundstage, but lacks the thump that closed cans provide.

Audio Technica ATH-A700 in that case. Should be under $150. Couple with an amp, and it's AMAZING.

iareconfuse - oh i heard of the technica ath that you listed above.
I was reading some reviews on them, and they seem pretty nice from what i hear.

armygunsmith - Which shure headphone are you speaking of?
I remember i tried one and did not like the bass at all (more like the lack of bass)

Napaplinker - I tried out beatbydre the higher end line, but too expensive. I did see that they carry the beatstour but did not have a sample at it. They are all behind the closed glass. Saw some reviews though, and had enough negative feedback to have me back away.
Have you had any experiences with them?

btw iareconfuse, i was looking for something more portable that's why I did not look too much into the enclosed headphones....

maybe i should take a stab at it?

Just thought it would be funny carry a huge headphone around everywhere i go.

I've a pair of Denon earbuds that I love. The Skullcandy ones I have aren't that great. Wiring is sketchy and the fabric cover on the wires makes all kinds of noise.

I have a pair of Grado SR60i headphones that I'm completely enamored with. I would recommend them to anyone. Made in the USA too!

In fact, after I got them, I stopped downloading mp3s and switched to lossless audio file formats like FLAC files. The difference in clarity is surprising. I'm hearing new things in albums I've been listening to for years!

Headphone samurai on youtube has some great info on many other models as well.

Yep, Grado makes a good headphone as well. The only issue I have with the SR60's is that they're supraaural, and causes discomfort on my ears. You could buy two earphones that could probably fit in your budget. Get the ATH-A700's for home use with an amp, and on the go just get the NuForce NE-7M's I suggested earlier. Should be right around $150 for both.

Edit: Is there anybody else that was/is on Head-Fi on this forum?

Alright, when people say they are audio enthusiasts people need to stop recommending beats by dre and skull candy thinking they know something about audio.
