6.9 sounds low for an SSD. Intel 80GB mainstream (MLC) drives score around 7.3 to 7.8 depending on the sata controller.

I use the SSD as my OS drive and for the programs I use most. I agree that SSDs are king for single drive setups, and the on downside that no one can ignore is write speeds. But man oh man is it snappy. This is the 5th SSD I've used, and it's a cheapo SSD Now with 240 read / 140 write (advertised). I just did an Agility 2 for a buddy and it is FAST. His score was mid-7's I think.

i see theyve broken the 80gb mark now, how long til they come down from the stars, as far as pricing is concerned, you think? i dont feel comfortable with less than 300gb (notebooks only get one drive, generally), but i dont think i can swing a thousand dollars for a hdd.

              Here's a 60gb - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...255&SID=176784

Install it and carry around a portable drive in your laptop case. It will be the BEST upgrade you can imagine.

My rig right now is pretty decent - Core 2 Quad Extreme, GTX460, etc etc. I've had faster machines, but the one I use now is my "budget" build (shopped long and hard to get it priced right) and it feels like my faster rigs. An SSD is going to give you a seat-of-the-pants increase like no other.

it's like putting a 14lb blower on a 1998 Cobra. Just amazing what it does. You wont care about space or storage, you'll just be amazed when your lappy boots in 30 seconds and you can Excel is fully loaded 1 second after clicking the icon.

I'm rockin a 4.9 which would have been a 5.6 but for that damn windows aero holding me back on a 2 year old HP Pavillion Dv7. Specs are Intel Core 2 Duo stock clocked @ 2.2ghz 4gigs of ram and ATI HD graphics card. Not bad for a laptop that I bought a couple years ago....

a crappy 4.1 base score. crippled most likely by mcafee endpoint version that's consuming 25% of my RAM!

Not OC'd at the moment, didn't get around to it yet after changing the chassis. The CPU, RAM, and graphics scores would be quite a bit higher.

right click on Computer and select properties. from there you should see a link to Windows Experience Index along with your overall rating. the link just breaks down where you performance is(or isn't)

Click 'Start', type 'System', click on the one that just says "System", now you should see the rating option.

80GB is nothing, you can get a 1TB SSD now.

Look at all the different sizes you can get.
