thats pretty much why I'm so interested. I (and many others here) like being outside or at least need to "be places" but also got lots of office/computer stuff they'd like to do, and/or get done while out of the home-office.

I see this as the next TWO big leaps after the Lock Down invented "Work From Home" craze.

Suppose you are looking at Real Estate, driving around. You COULD pull over and wipe out laptop, and its bulky sun-shield so you can actually sort of read the screen, to pull up some 'recently sold' and Estimates for properties around that area, over your cell phone hot spot, which is pretty cool. But I'm pretty sure with these Goggles you'd be able to drive around and see that data along with rest of what Zillow has (sq ft of house, lot, etc) on your head-up display (once such apps get developed). My understanding is currently you'd at least be able to pull up Zillow by typing on an imaginary keyboard and mouse, and re-size and keep that and other screens off to side or transparent.
Suppose you are at junk yard and see a car that might have the right part. You could use again mobile laptop and phone to pull up websites and look back and forth, but once your hands get greasy it would be nice to only type on virtual keyboard. Ditto for cooking.
IMO a Killer App could be Brick and Mortar stores having their shelves mapped out, and items with bar codes facing out. At night a robot with a camera on a mast would go up and down each aisle to scan codes into data base for updating. At the store you'd be directed to your item and/or it could show you virtual break down of what in the box. They always put Pizza Sauce in some weird place, not with tomato or pasta sauce, not with BBQ or ketchup, not with "Italian", off is some little section with pizza dough mix, which is maybe hidden on the ***-end of cake mix or Hamburger Helper or Mac and Cheese boxes.

Also finding BATHROOMS, maybe with user updated data on their condition and hours.
You realize that these things display a simulation of what you would see, and at a speed much slower than the human brain. Depth perception and reality are also distorted. So, what could possibly go wrong with scanning the internet and Zillow listings while driving? Researchers at Stanford wore these for extended periods and had handlers to deal with depth perception issues, and then had issues when they removed the goggles and their brains had started adjusting to the altered reality.

For some, this might be a fun toy, but most people will be sorely disappointed if they think they can adequately combine work and leisure by trying to multitask beyond their brain?s capacity, not to mention how much they are going to piss off everyone around them. I can see Apple Goggle users being treated like a SF self driving taxi.

They should call them the Apple BC goggles.

          Birth control.

No women is going to smash with you if they see you wearing these.

quite a few not so great reviews now coming in, but TBH its hard to tell if they aren't just catching a small % of people with some pre-existing condition these things reveal, or if these things got real issues.

Hard to imagine WTF is really going on with the things so closer than your normal focal length, and how such Black Magic wouldn't create issues. I'd have thought this could only work if it projected a hologram or something out 2ft and then you only saw that looking through the goggles, but WTF do I know.

Some are talking about how the eye operated mouse has time lag, making these not so great for serious PC chores.

Still interested even at current price point, if they'd be even "OK" plugged into a laptop loaded with CAD. Just a few years ago everyone was thrilled to use a single 21" or whatever CAD screen, in an open office with bright lights and no anti-glare.

Back during early cell phone days my coworker had one and we were forced to take Bart. He had this routine where he'd pretend to be talking and of course you'd only hear one 1/2 of the conversation and it would always be SEEMINGLY something grossly sexual and scandalous and "OMG!!!" but no real proof.

This was targeted at younger women who were with their moms or maybe boss or older co-workers. Then he'd act like he was giving the person on the other end of the line his cell number, and by this time the younger woman would have caught on he was just goofing to get her companion all cranked up, and even a good way of remembering it. Most successful pickup method I've ever seen.

I'm gonna be driving around and when I notice hot chicks noticing me wearing them I'm going to hold up a sign that looks like I just made it saying "I'm looking at you naked"

Maybe not with Apple's device, but I can think of some interesting applications for augmented reality in the aviation sphere.

I'm thinking the "hack" is factory installed subliminal something.

Insiders are saying Apple's big take from these will be a new level of data on how your eyes flit around a screen of a video game or movie, and that is about as close to "reading your mind" as you will get without implanting chips in brains.

Digital technology is the downfall of our society, it's already well on it's way down the toilet thanks to social media, phones and gaming. People aren't even living in reality anymore, between being stoned all of the time, gaming and BS like this.

You don't have to be a Luddite and eschew all tech but you do need balance, nature, face to face interaction with other humans. All of this tech discourages any of those basic human needs. I've lived a good portion of my life immersed in technology and I now crave those basic things I listed. Tech is a dead end and is used more to control and anesthetize humans than it is used for good. AI is the harbinger of what's coming.

One of the biggest complaints and lifelong (end of life especially) is not being able to spend enough time with family, particularly kids, due to having an old school "real job" that requires at least the husband to be away for about 10hrs 5days a week. Pretty sure one thing such Goggles will be good at is taking "video chat" to a whole a new level. If you are at work, whether in an office or just about any job, you'd be able to VC with your kids and they'd be able to watch what you are doing at work and vise-versa, and you'd be able to "see out of each other's eyes".

IMO that sort of app might have YUGE Killer App in general training, not just parenting. I'd LUV to be able to have hi-res panoramic, editable, zoomable, playback speed adjust of some pro-mechanic in a brightly lite sterile studio shop doing operations from "my" point of view, maybe with his arms "wire frame" see through, or the equip wire-framed under his arms and hands and tools. Even the best shop manuals really suck IMO, and I consider myself pretty handy, and I'm always still "WTF are they trying to tell me?"

watching prep videos for Drone Operator test, they first thing they say is "wow, look at all the stuff on these aviation maps, and everything (sorta) means something".

probably be really neat if that was able to be on a Head Up goggles, and the stuff you need to watch for highlighted, verse trying to look back and forth at some map on your leg.

I'd bet with a bit of tech you could see real time temp, wind gusts, thermals, etc by ground units tracking and triangulating dust in moving air.

maybe flight simulator Heads Up outline of where your airplane's angles SHOULD be (wire frame of wings) for perfect landing or turning. You tell it "1000yrd radius flat turn at 200mph steady" and you just move controls to match "ghost" in goggles.
