    No clue what the App Store is. I guess apps are what we used to call software or computer programs? For example, I want MS Office, firefox, that sort of thing. Do you need an apple account to load MS Office?

      Not that I'm aware of. SW Updates as well are easy through the "about this mac" pulldown menu under the "Apple" symbol top left of the screen, then just click on 'About This Mac" (Overview is the default button) then "Software Update".

        Do Apple computers have built-in viruses like Windows does? (I am referring to MS error reporting, compatibility telemetry)

                Wipe the HD. Install your favorite Linux distro. Install Win7 in a VM for when you need to fall back.
