Had Samsung S10+ purchased from Verizon years ago. Bought new Samsung S22+ from Amazon. Dropped Verizon. Signed up to PureTalk. Selling old phone with no SIM.

1. How do I tell if old phone is locked to Verizon?
2. Would I mess anything up if I temporarily tried old phone with PureTalk SIM?
3. Who supplies updates to phone if buyer does not go with Verizon?

1. Check SIM on phone to see if it's carrier locked. If phone is paid for, you can unlock it through the carrier (website?).

3. New carrier will provide updates.

Now you can upgrade to iPhone 13 at a lower cost with 14 coming out.
My 13 is rock solid with incredible battery life.

Probably nothing. Not like it's going to blow up. But I'm pretty sure it needs a sim card to unlock the phone, if it's not unlocked already. Call Verizon, they should help you.

Your device will be unlocked automatically as long the following applies:

You are 60 days from purchase
Your device is not flagged for fraud, or reported as lost or stolen

Probably nothing. Not like it's going to blow up. But I'm pretty sure it needs a sim card to unlock the phone, if it's not unlocked already. Call Verizon, they should help you.

I know it's not the topic, but I also have an S10+ and have been thinking about getting a S22+ and have also been contemplating Pure Talk... so your situation is timely.

Sux that the S22+ doesn't have memory card slot (I was unaware of that) - not that I'd need more space, but I like removable storage (to load other devices). That could be a deal killer

I just switched to Redpocket. They have a sale currently. I signed up for the annual plan with the Verizion CDMA-network. The GSMA network does not work were I live.

The problem with no MicroSD card slots is that if you don't let your photos sync to Picasa/Google photos (so some Google employee can jerk-meat to pics of your underage daughter), then if your phone dies your screwed with irreplaceable pics of your kids/family events/dead grandmother...

It's sad now, damned if you do, damned if you don't as far as people who chose Android for the feature-set that is going the way of them iPhruity-devices, then Apple tries to label people pedos for taking regular pics of kids... I wonder if they are doing similar with gun-pix?

I sync my cell to my PC on a regular basis. More often if I have a pics on the cell I want to save.
